Combinatiereizen Uit vragen en reacties weten we dat veel vakantiegangers, eenmaal aangekomen op hun eerste vakantiebestemming, graag ook een bezoekje willen brengen aan één of meer van de andere eilanden van de Nederlandse Antillen. En dat is ook wel begrijpelijk, want Aruba, Bonaire en Curaçao, die ook wel de ABC-eilanden worden genoemd, liggen heel dicht bij elkaar. Dit betekent zeer korte vliegafstanden en een oversteek per vliegtuig is dus zo gemaakt. Bovendien heb je als het ware een ‘3 in 1’ vakantie, want hoewel de ABC-eilanden veel overeenkomsten hebben, zoals bijvoorbeeld het buitengewoon aangename klimaat, eerste klas duikvoorzieningen, prachtige natuurgebieden enz., zijn er toch hele duidelijke verschillen. Zo staat tegenover de rust die Bonaire uitstraalt de dynamiek van het bruisende uitgaansleven van Aruba. Op Curaçao vind je weer een mix van beide met als bijzonderheid de sfeervolle, met een Caribische saus overgoten architectuur van de binnenstad van Willemstad. En niet te vergeten de diversiteit aan duikmogelijkheden die maakt dat vooral duikers graag van eiland verwisselen. Wat voor de Benedenwindse ABC-eilanden geldt, gaat evenzeer op voor de Bovenwindse SSS-eilanden: Saba, Sint Maarten en Sint Eustatius. Deze liggen zo dicht bij elkaar dat je vanaf elk van de 3 eilanden de andere 2 kunt zien liggen! De onderlinge verbindingen zijn zo mogelijk nog beter, want behalve per vliegtuig, is Saba ook per boot bereikbaar (zeker een leuke ervaring, maar niet aan te raden voor degene die snel zeeziek worden). De onderlinge verschillen zijn wat 34 Algemene Informatie speciale, voordelige actieprijzen in rekening brengen. Hiermee wil men dit soort reizen stimuleren en uiteraard worden die kortingen door ons onverkort doorgegeven aan de klant. De vluchten tussen de ABC- eilanden en Sint Maarten worden verzorgd door DAE, Dutch Antilles Express, dat een nauwe samenwerking heeft met de KLM. Winair is de maatschappij die tussen Sint Maarten, Saba en Sint Eustatius vliegt. Tussen Bonaire en Curaçao vliegt ook nog Divi Divi Air. betreft natuur en cultuur erg groot en dus is het meer dan de moeite waard om mee te doen aan het ‘island hopping’, dat met de dag aan populariteit wint. Natuurlijk kun je, eenmaal ter plaatse, zelf het een en ander regelen, maar het is toch heel handig en praktisch te kiezen voor de zekerheid dat al voor vertrek alles in kannen en kruiken is zoals de vluchten, accommodatie, (duik) activiteiten, excursies enz. Dat alles kan door Caribbean & Bonaire Fun Travel perfect worden geregeld. Er kunnen zowel reizen gecombineerd worden tussen elk van de ABC- of SSS-eilanden onderling als ook tussen één of meer van ABC- en de SSS-eilanden. Bijvoorbeeld eerst Bonaire en vervolgens Curaçao en/of Aruba met een oversteek naar Sint Maarten. En zo kunnen alle mogelijke variaties gemaakt worden waardoor een vakantie op de Antillen nog spannender wordt dan die al is. Combinatiereizen zijn vaak ook nog voordelig omdat vooral accommodaties die op meerdere eilanden gevestigd zijn, Algemene Informatie 35.

The African Telatelist Newsletter 189 of the African Telately Association – March 2014. ___________________________________________________________________________ Bonaire (C.Edwards) Bonaire (/bɒ ˈ nɛ ər/; Dutch: Bonaire, Papiament u: Boneiru) is a Caribbean island that, with the uninhabited islet of Klein Bonaire nestled in its western crescent, forms a special municipality (officially public body) of the Netherlands. Together with Aruba and Curaçao it forms a group referred to as the ABC islands of the Leeward Antilles, the southern island chain of the Lesser Antilles. The name Bonaire is thought to have originally come from the Caquetio word 'Bonay'. The early Spanish and Dutch modified its spelling to Bojnaj and also Bonaire, which means "Good Air". Coat of Arms Bonaire's capital is Kralendijk. Original inhabitants Bonaire's earliest known inhabitants were the Caquetio Indians, a branch of the Arawak who came by canoe from Venezuela in about 1000 CE. Archeological remains of Caquetio culture have been found at certain sites northeast of Kralendijk and near Lac Bay.
