As it has over the last 15 years, World Routes will once again provide airlines and airports with an unrivalled business development opportunity. Last year’s World Routes in Kuala Lumpur attracted a record attendance. The attendance confi rmed the vital importance of the partnership between airlines and airports. In 2008 more airlines than ever before requested to meet airports they already serve as they looked to improve the performance of their established services. Equally, we also saw a record number of tourist authorities supporting their airports seeking to create stronger regionally based route support packages. I expect these trends to grow further this year. It is the fi rst time that World Routes has located in China, which in 2009 is expected to be the only major air transport market to grow. If you attended last year’s event, you would have experienced the dramatic Farewell Reception organized by our hosts for 2009, Beijing Capital International Airport. This year’s World Routes promises to be just as spectacular with delegates able to enjoy all the delights of China’s capital. With new air services typically planned on two to three year timeframes, the next upturn should hopefully be moving into view at this year’s World event. The global networks of the future are being decided now and Beijing will be every airline’s and airport’s opportunity to infl uence them. It will be an experience not to be missed. I would also like to thank Air China for providing such generous fares that really help delegates from outside Asia. Details can be found on www.routesonline.com I look forward to seeing you in Beijing. Mike Howarth Chairman, Routes World Routes Beijing 04 Welcome to the 15th World Route Development Forum We are planning to provide you with a marvellous and splendid World Routes Forum in Beijing which we are sure will be a great opportunity for the elite of Civil Aviation from all over the world to meet face-to-face and to discuss the future of international aviation route development. It promises to be an unforgettable and truly exceptional event. It is the aim of Beijing Capital International Airport to become a top rank world airport management company which will lead the way forward in the development and innovation of the Chinese airport industry. We at BCIA have committed ourselves to offering our customers an effi cient operation from a fi rst class managerial platform. This, backed by traditional oriental service, means we’ll be able to provide an impressive experience for visiting global airlines and air passengers. With its rapid development, Beijing Capital International Airport is expecting to play an increasingly important role in the world aviation industry, and will therefore use the 2009 World Route Development Forum to seek new business opportunities with all delegates from the civil aviation industry as well as reviewing the performance of its established services. As the capital of China, Beijing is one of the world’s truly imposing cities, with a 3,000- year history. This long history leaves Beijing with an abundant historical and cultural heritage which is represented by many treasures still existing from the city’s previous civilizations. We hope that all World Routes delegates enjoy Beijing’s many charms. It is a dynamic city, where old and new intermingle and which remains a magnet for visitors from both inside and outside of China. Have a wonderful stay in Beijing and thank you for being with us. Mr Dong Zhiyi President & CEO, Beijing Capital International Airport Co., Ltd. Air Transat World Routes Beijing 06 World Routes 2009 – Where people come together World Routes is the place where the global route development industry annually gathers to plan new air services, protect existing ones and network with their international colleagues and associates. At the heart of World Routes are the one to one meetings between every type of airline and airport, from every continent, whether they be fl ag carriers or low cost airlines, hub or regional airports. Market information is shared, new opportunities discussed and start-up strategies developed. In these uncertain times, route effi ciencies, defence and recovery are sure to be hot topics amongst attendees. Independent research has consistently shown that delegates regard World Routes as superb value for money. For airports, it puts them face to face with airline route planners and decision makers at a fraction of the cost of visiting them independently. For airlines, it provides new market data at no cost, with the possibility of gaining substantial additional route support – for both new and/or established services. World Routes delivers results not only in the good times but in the tough ones too. “Routes was indeed a useful networking forum, bringing airlines and airports under one roof.” Rachel Tan, Head of Route Planning, Singapore Airlines World Routes Beijing 07 Event schedule Saturday 12th September 2009 • World Routes Arrival centre opens City Tours The Saturday Reception sponsored by Scotland Sunday 13th September 2009 • City Tours Registration Collection of Meeting Diaries Extra Meeting requests Opening of Networking Village Hosted Networking Stands Open House Welcome Reception hosted by Beijing Capital International Airport Monday 14th September 2009 • Formal Airline/Airport One to One Meetings Networking Village activities World Routes Leaders Forum Hosted Buffet Lunch Gala Dinner hosted by Beijing Capital International Airport World Routes- OAG Airport Marketing Awards Tuesday 15th September 2009 • Formal Airline/Airport One to One Meetings Networking Village activities Hosted Buffet Lunch and Offi cial Handover to host of World Routes 2010 Farewell Reception hosted by World Routes 2010 host.
