SUNDAY, MAY 12

Depart Atlanta American Airlines Flight #835 departs Atlanta at 9: 44am

Arrive NYC 12:00 pm / noon (field/travel time 2.5 hrs.)

Travel to Hotel Rite Transportation will meet and transport the group to the hotel. Once we have gathered all of our luggage, we call Travel Rite. The bus will be near-by where they are permitted to wait and confirm which doorway to meet the bus. A few days before when the actual bus driver is assigned, Cover NY will send us the bus driver’s mobile number. As a back-up the travel rite number is 1 (800) 868-8411

Hotel Hilton Garden Inn/West 35th Street, 63 West 35th Street, between 5th/6th Avenues diagonally across from Harold Square

2:00 – 4:30 pm FI/ FM - Walking tour of NYC landmarks. Tour is guided by Dr, Gomez-Lanier (history lecture/ tour 2.5 contact hours) Distance; 3.0 miles/ 2.5 hrs. Starts at 34th/Penn station subway station Ends at 34th /Herald Square

1. Macy's - Stand in front of Macy's department store. Continue to , cross it and turn left onto (Avenue of the America's) 2. New York Public – Beaux Arts building. at west 42th street turn right with the library being at the other end of Bryant Park

3. Diamond district - This area is concentrated between between fifth and sixth avenues. Continue north on sixth avenue

4. G.E. building at 49th street. The building is part of the . Continue on Avenue of the Americas to .

5. . Continue on avenue of the America's, go one block north to 52th street and turn right. The CBS building is on the corner of Avenue of the Americas and 52th street.

6. . At 52th street and turn right and walk a block to St. Patrick's Cathedral

7. St. Patrick's Cathedral – The largest catholic cathedral in America. Turn left on and walk past the cathedral toward . Cross Madison Avenue.

8. Villard house/ New York palace hotel – built in 1884 and used for filming sex in the city and gossip girl TV shows.

12. Chrysler building – it is one of the world's great 20th century buildings. It was completed in 1929.

Chelsea Market Tour assignment – Mix-use Adaptive re-use building

Highline – Award winning urban design – observe integration of urban public spaces/ architecture/ retail/ art - Walk down the Highline to and enjoy the art, panorama of all the new architecture in West Chelsea, including Zaha Hadid's only NYC building 520 West 28th which borders the Highline.
