For Immediate Release Contacts: Aaron Sickman (651) 602-6009 Friday, Jan. 1, 2021 Megan Kogut (651) 312-3439 MINNESOTA WILD NAMES RANDY SEXTON SENIOR ADVISOR TO THE GENERAL MANAGER SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Wild General Manager Bill Guerin today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has named Randy Sexton Senior Advisor to the General Manager. Sexton, 61 (7/24/59), joins the Wild after spending the last three seasons as assistant general manager for the Buffalo Sabres where he assisted General Manager Jason Botterill in every aspect of hockey operations in addition to overseeing amateur scouting and serving as general manager of Buffalo’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Rochester Americans. Prior to joining the Sabres, Sexton spent seven seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He joined the Penguins as assistant director of amateur scouting in 2010-11 and was promoted to director of amateur scouting in 2015-16. As director of amateur scouting, Sexton oversaw Pittsburgh’s scouting operations in North America and Europe. He joined the Florida Panthers organization in January of 2007 as assistant general manager and was named general manager in 2009. Prior to joining the Panthers, Sexton spent three years as the Executive Director of Capital Sports Management Inc. (CSMI), a sister company to the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club. While with CSMI, he provided strategic analysis and advice to the Senators. Sexton spent eight years (1988-96) with the Ottawa Senators organization serving in a number of roles including president, chief executive officer and general manager. As one of the Senators’ founders, he was instrumental in helping bring the NHL back to Ottawa. A native of Brockville, Ont., Sexton played collegiate hockey at St. Lawrence University (1978-82) and spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the Saints. He and his wife, Jo-Ann, have three sons, Michael, Ben and Patrick. After two-plus seasons in the minors, the 24-year-old goalie replaced Carter Hutton with the Buffalo Sabres facing a four-goal deficit in the second period Tuesday night. Two minutes later, Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen, two top forwards in the National Hockey League, skated down the ice for an odd-man rush against Johansson. Rantanen, a 31-goal scorer last season, snapped the puck off the near post and over Johansson' shoulder. First shot faced in the NHL, first goal against. "Not the way you want the game to go ... " Johansson said with a smile. He didn't fold in the face of adversity, though. Johansson stopped each of the next 13 shots he faced, including a highlight-reel save in which he extended his left leg pad to stifle a backhanded attempt by Gabriel Landeskog. Johansson's performance in the third period of a 6-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche ensured he will start either Thursday against Detroit or Friday at Madison Square Garden against the Rangers. It will be the next chapter in a journey that has included injuries and doubt. "It’s been like a roller coaster for me, ever since I got drafted," Johansson, a third-round draft choice in 2014, said following practice Wednesday. "This has always been the goal.

AMERKS DAILY PRESS CLIPS Friday, April 16, 2021 Adams: Karmanos a 'critical hire' for Sabres front office By Jourdon LaBarber Sabres.com Kevyn Adams first got to know Jason Karmanos at various USA Hockey camps when the two were teenagers. They grew close as teammates with Team USA at the 1994 World Junior Championship. Their playing careers diverged from that point forward. Adams was a first-round draft pick by Boston in 1993; Karmanos played 16 games in the ECHL before hanging up his skates and turning his attention to front office work, becoming assistant general manager for Carolina in 1998. Their paths intersected again in 2002, when Karmanos was part of the Carolina front office that acquired Adams in a trade with the Florida Panthers. He recalls the deal as one of the best he's been involved with, a vital move for a team that would win the Stanley Cup four years later. Adams hopes bringing Karmanos on board as associate general manager will have a similar impact in Buffalo. "This was a critical hire for us," Adams said during an introductory press conference on Thursday. "I feel that Jason is someone, for me, that checked all the boxes. He is a person of integrity, high character, has great experience, a track record of success in multiple organizations and certainly someone I've known for many years and trust." Karmanos followed his 14-year stint in the Carolina front office with a six-year tenure in Pittsburgh, where he was a vice president of hockey operations for the Penguins' Stanley Cup titles in 2016 and 2017.

After more than two decades as the Ottawa Senators Foundation, the Ottawa-Gatineau Youth Foundation is launching with a new name, but with the same commitment it has always had as registered charitable organization in supporting young people in the National Capital Region by investing the funds it raises in activities to empower them and provide opportunities. “Today is not only an inspiring day, it is an opportunity to reflect on the unwavering commitment from the community to carry on the legacy of our Foundation’s work, which began 22 years ago under Rod Bryden and a group of community leaders associated with the city’s hockey club,” said Ian Sherman, Chair of the Ottawa-Gatineau Youth Foundation. “We launched this reimagined Foundation to ensure that the important work that started more than two decades ago would continue, and also expand it to include a focus on social justice activities for youth.” “I am very honoured to Chair the Board of Directors and, along with our community, owe an enormous debt of gratitude to our outgoing Chair, Goldy Hyder,” added Sherman. “Our core values and strategic priorities as an organization are well established and the Foundation will not disappoint this great Ottawa-Gatineau community.” At today’s launch, the Foundation shared bilingual promotional videos, and unveiled its new logo, mission and vision.
