With a healthy and increasing membership and an enormous number of races and off-water events, 2016-17 is looking exciting. The General Committee, as listed in the early part of this handbook, will again endeavour to steer the ship onwards towards another 100 years of devotion to racing and boating in general. This handbook provides members with all the information for the coming year for both on-water activities and general club information. At the beginning of the handbook are listed the General Committee members and key staff, so vital in running the club. Also you will see the fantastic list of volunteers who offer so much of their time to aid in the running of the club and the races. Without all of these people, who put in so much over the years, the club simply couldn’t do what it does. Following this are the previous Commodores who have steered the RNZYS for the last 144 years so successfully. The Club’s rules and regulations are also included and are constantly being updated to reflect changing times and changing desires of our members. Some of these rules date back 144 years and make for some interesting reading. You will also find all the scheduled racing series and the individual events with the notices of race, courses and other relevant information. The last section of the handbook has the list of all members organised in order of longest standing members first and moving through to the newest members at the back. In each section you will find members listed in alphabetical order. There is also a boat register with all members vessels, so please ensure you update the RNZYS MESSAGE COMMODORE'S registry if you buy, sell or swap boats. You will also see notes and information from our key partners throughout the handbook. These partners are vital in the running of the club and offer members so much. We should all offer them support and thanks for the help they provide. We enjoy a sport that has participants of all ages and can be enjoyed by the whole family. For those of us lucky enough, please get out on the water and enjoy our beautiful harbour and Gulf and make the most of family and friends with the RNZYS. The Flags and General Committee welcome all members and wish you all the very best for the season ahead. EMBARGOED UNTIL THE OFFICIAL RELEASE OF THE QUALITY OF LIFE REPORT, 1PM, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2007 QUALITY OF LIFE REPORT 2007: AUCKLAND CITY MEDIA RELEASE Auckland city offers a high quality of life and has strong population and economic growth – but also experiences pressure on infrastructure and housing, according to a national report out today. The 2007 Quality of Life report, released by the Metropolitan Sector Group today, provides a comprehensive assessment of the quality of life in 12 New Zealand cities, as part of a multi-council initiative. Mayor of Auckland city, Hon. John Banks, said the report highlighted the many positive features of life in Auckland city. “Auckland offers its residents a wealth of opportunities and residents clearly recognise this, with 91% of them rating their quality of life as good or extremely good. That’s a ringing endorsement for the city.” Auckland continued to experience strong population growth, recording a 10% increase between 2001 and 2006. The make-up of the city’s population was ethnically diverse and nearly two-thirds of Aucklanders felt positively about the impact of this increased cultural diversity. As well as strong population growth, the city also experienced economic growth, averaging 4.1% per year between 2001 and 2006. Mr Banks said the Auckland economy was thriving. “From 2001 to 2006, we had the highest number of new jobs and new businesses created of any city in New Zealand. Auckland is the country’s economic powerhouse and it’s good to see that this report demonstrates that the city’s economy is continuing to perform.

En 2001, la Classe des Monocoques Open 60 pieds a été agréée «International Class» par l’INTERNATIONAL SAILING FEDERATION (ISAF), et la Classe des Monocoques Open 50 pieds a été agréée «Recognised Class». • ETNZ History Part 1
THE HISTORY OF ETNZ - PART 1 As the 36th America’s Cup draws ever nearer, our lengthy alliance with Emirates Team New Zealand has once again piqued a keen interest in the yachting world from within the Hydraulink community. As such, we have decided to celebrate the return of the upcoming Cup season with a series of emails diving deep into New Zealand’s history in the America’s Cup. Over the next few months, we’ll take you on a journey into the past and back again, with an in-depth insider’s view of Team New Zealand’s triumphs and disasters. TE KAHU - THE HAWK With the team’s recent reveal of their new custom designed and built test boat, ‘Te Kãhu’, we thought this the perfect chance to take a look at this new boat, its purpose and what exactly it means for the team. With a hydraulic system on-board that utilises Hydraulink hoses and fittings, this is a project very near to our hearts and we’re incredibly proud to have contributed to the build of this ground-breaking yacht. Purpose-built by ETNZ’s dedicated team of over 30 skilled boat builders, Te Kãhu was created to allow the sailing crew to continue their on-wa- ter development program without delay, whilst Te Aihe is packed up and shipped to Europe in preparation for the first of the America’s Cup World Series events beginning in April. While the series’ rules on test yachts dictated that this boat be limited to a length of 12m or less in comparison to Te Aihe’s larger 20.7 metre hull, don’t be fooled by her size – Te Kãhu is every bit as technologically advanced as Te Aihe.
