This observational documentary follows NYC basketball prodigy and retired NBA All­Star Kenny Anderson in the midst of a mid­life crisis, on a journey to find himself. Reeling from his mother’s death and a subsequent DUI, “Chibbs” visits people and arenas from his past, confronting haunting memories, ultimately finding solace in becoming the father he never had time to be. Combining unseen archival footage with raw moments of reflection, “Mr. Chibbs” is a portrait of an athlete coming to terms with his past as he searches for relevancy in his future. ​

Director Jill Campbell’s love of basketball began at an early age when she would collect autographs from the likes of Dr. J back when the Nets played at Nassau Coliseum. As someone who grew up watching basketball, Jill jumped at the chance to collaborate with Kenny on MR. CHIBBS. An accomplished playwright, veteran producer of documentaries and director of short films, MR CHIBBS is Jill’s premiere feature length documentary. Jill has assembled a talented group of collaborators including Paul Lovelace who edited Albert Maysles hit IRIS, Nelson Walker who was a DP and co­Director on Maysles last film IN TRANSIT and composer Jeff Parker, presently touring with the band Tortoise.
