The company is packaging the young golfer--who is part African American, part Chinese, part American Indian, part Thai and part white--as the Jackie Robinson of golf, breaking down barriers each time he steps on a course. -

These decisions were very difficult but were all made to benefit our player development goals and the organization as a whole. Please welcome the new, thank the previous and support them all! The purpose for making these changes were to help player development and to increase our ability to retain quality players while attracting new players. This commitment plus the addition of valuable ice time and off ice training at Bluestreak makes PAL very attractive. Tier I Mite AAA 1999 and 2000 Birth Years Buzzy Deschamps Buzz Deschamps hails from Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada and currently resides in Bayshore. Married for 35 years and the father of 5, Buzzy landed in New York by way of a 10 year professional hockey career. Buzzy worked in the New York Rangers and Calgary Flames organizations as a Pro Scout. Deschamps also played for Baltimore & Providence in the AHL, the Champion St Paul Rangers in the CPHL under legendary coach Fred Shero, and Los Angeles & Chicago Cougars in the WHA. Buzzy was also the Long Island Ducks all time goal scoring leading with 59 goals, varsity coach for St John University, and 13 years Director of the Islander Youth Hockey Program. -

Brandon Steiner Raised with His Two Brothers by a Single Mother in a Tiny
Brandon Steiner Raised with his two brothers by a single mother in a tiny apartment in Brooklyn, Brandon Steiner came from truly humble beginnings to build the most successful sports marketing brand in the industry. Brandon started his education at John Dewey High School in Coney Island, NY. He then earned an undergraduate degree in accounting at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management from Syracuse in 1981. Success didn’t come easy, and in his career Brandon soldiered through countless peaks and valleys – both professionally and personally – having to reinvent himself at almost every turn. Brandon started as a manager in the Hyatt hotel chain, transitioned into food service – managing the Hard Rock Cafe in its glory days on 57th Street in New York City, then managed the Sporting Club, NYC’s first true sports bar. It was in these last two posts that Brandon began to work with professional athletes, hiring them for restaurant events, then representing them as they negotiated the world of corporate appearances and speaking engagements. Sports marketing was where Brandon found his true niche, eventually earning a reputation as one of the gurus of the industry. Brandon has become a permanent fixture in the media and is a regular on ESPN Radio 1050 along with his co-hosting duties on Yankees-Steiner: Memories of the Game which is prominently featured on the YES Network. Brandon is commonly utilized as an expert commentator on all issues involving sports and is regularly featured on national news networks including CNBC, CNN, MSNBC, ESPN and in newspapers such as The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. -

Sport Management Sport Analytics Syracuse2019-2020 Newsletter Persevering Through 2020’s Challenges How our students, faculty and alumni embraced virtual learning, remote employment View a text-based accessible version CO VER ST OR Y Persevering Through How our students, faculty and alumni embraced virtual learning, remote employment We welcomed a new decade with innovative ideas and graduated our largest class of students in May 2020, but even with the excitement surrounding major milestones, this new chapter did not unfold as we – or anyone - had planned. We persevered through a pandemic and we could not have done it without the unwavering commitment from our Sport Management faculty and staff, the understanding and flexibility of our students, the guidance from Falk College and Syracuse University leadership, and the loyal support of our alumni and advisory council members. So many of our events, trips, conferences, presentations, lectures and internships were canceled or cut short, including senior Capstones, graduate practicums, Los Angeles Immersion, Syracuse Sport Business Conference, Berlin Sport Analytics Faculty adapt from classroom instruction to online teaching Undergraduate director Dr. Gina Pauline dents both online and in person. I also experienced the challenges of being The Spring 2020 semester brought an unexpected challenge that no one a full-time working mother with three kids at home who were also learning saw coming. Think about it, 20 years from now, we will look back on this remotely. It was a juggling act for sure!
