7 Further Confusion Annual Picnic Draws Large Crowd

By Melchar Special to SF/SF

The annual Further Confusion picnic was held at Lake Chabot, August 20. Roughly 150 fannish folk attended, happily eating all manner of picnic foods: hot dogs (both meat & vege-dogs), burgers, ribs, salads, cookies, chips, brownies, soda - and some adventurous souls picked wild blackberries of the thick hedge that bordered the entire picnic site. During the fun, Empress Rhea and Omega presented long-time fan Smash with a sash of fannish merit badges that included badges for first aid, camping & night hiking. There was also a FurryMUCK cribbage tournament, held live between Genevive and Hunter Kitty. “I drove all the way from LA just to play cribbage .... and come to the picnic, of course,” Hunter said. “It sure was an expensive cribbage game.” Left, Further Confusion Vice Chair Squirel, and At the end, Genevive won the Further Confusion Chair Loran Skunky enjoy the picnic at Lake Chabot. The day was hot, but thankfully there were deep pools of shade to hide with and watch fans play frisbee, run with their dogs, talk about costuming and watch as a few brave fans wore big mascot outfits.
