The multi million pound master plan “VisionTameside” delivers a new exciting future for Ashton Town Centre attracting new businesses into Tameside and creating new jobs and future opportunities for Tameside residents. Central to this plan is a transformational three phase development of the Tameside College Campus.

Over the next four years the College plans to build three new Advanced Learning Centres, based in Ashton Town Centre and at the Beaufort Road site. These new Learning and Skills Centres will be built in three phases and will offer people in Tameside state-of-the-art facilities that equip them for the challenges of a changing economy Phase one of the plan will be the building of two new requiring a highly skilled workforce. iconic Learning Centres on Camp Street and Stamford Street in Ashton Town Centre. The Camp Street site features an advanced Learning Centre and the Stamford Street site will house the Advanced Engineering and Technology Centre.

Phase two is a new Advanced Skills Centre for Tameside College sitting alongside a new centre for Tameside Council in Ashton Town Centre. The new centre for Tameside Council will provide a more cost effective and customer friendly building that will deliver considerable cost savings and better services to residents.

The final phase of the project will be the redevelopment of the Beaufort road campus in Ashton to ensure that the estate offers learners outstanding learning spaces. 20 TAMESIDE’S CLAIMS TO FAME BIRTHPLACE OF THREE WORLD CUP WINNERS

Where is Tameside? It’s not an unreasonable question to ask. It is the only one of Greater Manchester’s ten authorities which takes its name from a river rather than a place. To add to the confusion, well-spoken newsreaders invariably refer to the borough as Thames- side rather than Tame-side, leading many to believe it’s somewhere west of London rather than east of Manchester.

Move past the name and you quickly discover that Tameside has as much claim to recognition as any other borough in the kingdom.
