CHRIST CHURCH VIDYAPITH, ANNUAL REPORT 2017-18 We are extremely thankful to the Almighty God for the blessing he has showered upon this institution. Without God’s guidance we wouldn’t have been able to achieve anything and we could enjoy the abundant love and blessing of God Almighty throughout this year.

With immense pleasure and privilege I present before you the 19th annual report of Christ Church Vidyapith, Kodukulanji. Christ Church Vidyapith is owned and run by CSI Christ Church Educational & Charitable Society of Madhya Diocese. The school is affiliated to CBSE. It is situated in a serene location and has all the necessary infrastructure facility, well equipped lab, spacious library and a vast playground. We have classes starting from play class to class X. The first batch of STD X passed CBSE Board Exam with flying colors.

We have a total of more than 400 students, 30 teachers, a Principal, Vice Principal, Bursar, PRO, Clerical staff, 3 Divers, 5 ayahs and a security. Three buses ply all routes and the school timing is from 9 am to 3.45 pm with half an hour lunch break .Each day begins with a staff prayer and prayer conducted by students. Assembly is conducted twice a week by students under guidance of teachers. During the assembly students present the news, share a thought and observe important days.

Co-curricular programmes like dance, music classes, karate and yoga are taught in the school. Remedial classes and evening classes are conducted for class 10. To live harmoniously in the society, students have to develop moral virtues. Moral education is given in the school to instill moral values in students. Counseling empowers students to accomplish mental health, wellness and aim for career goals. Counseling classes were conducted in the school

School Reopening The school reopened on First June 2017. An assembly was conducted at 9.30 am Rev Sam Mathew Kavumkal, our Local Manger blessed the students. Mr. Eipe John, our Bursar spoke on the occasion. Mrs. Liby Elizabeth Mathew, Vice Principal proposed vote of thanks.

Staff Retreat

This academic year commenced with a staff retreat on 29th May 2017 at Christ Church, Kodukulanji. Rev Nelson Chacko, Former Treasurer of CSI Madhya Kerala Diocese led the meditation and Rev Sam Mathew Kavumkal was also present. Activities of the school and year plan were formulated after the retreat

Environment Day

As part of our efforts to save the Earth, World Environment Day was observed in the school on 5th June 2017.The programme was conducted to create an awareness to protect nature. Students took a pledge to save the Earth and Mr. T K Soman, Panchayat member was the Chief Guest. Saplings of various trees were planted in the school campus.

Honouring the toppers of Class X and Activity Inauguration of various clubs

A meeting was held on 4th July 2017 at 9.30 am at Christ Church Parish Hall, Kodukulanji to honour the toppers of class X and for the inauguration of various club activities of the school. Rev Sam Mathew Kavumkal, Local Manager of our school presided over the function, Very Rev Oommen George, Clergy Secretary of Madhya Kerala Diocese, inaugurated the meeting. Mr. Jose Paikad, Manager of Self Financing schools of Madhya Kerala Diocese was the guest of Honour, Mrs. V K Sobha, President of Ala Grama Panchayat inaugurated activities of various clubs of the school. Mr. Eipe John, Bursar, Mr. Leju Jose Chandy, PTA President, Mr. Chandy C George, Church Warden and Kumari Ancy Mary Philip spoke on the occasion. Toppers were introduced by Mrs.Elizabeth Jori and Mementos and cash prizes were distributed to the students. Mr. K G Samuel, Principal welcomed the gathering and Mrs. Liby Elizabeth Mathew Proposed the vote of thanks.

Vayanadinam

In order to inculcate reading habits in students, vayanadinam was observed in the school on 19th July 2017 at 9.30 am. Prof V I Johnson, Department faculty member, Bishop Moore College, Mavelikara was the chief guest. Principal Mr. K G Samuel presided over the function. Mr. T K Soman our ward member, Mr. Eipe John, Bursar spoke on the occasion. Students presented various programmes. Mrs. Ani O S welcomed the gathering and Mrs. Liby Elizabeth Mathew proposed the vote of thanks

In connection with Vayanadinam competition like news reading, recitation etc were conducted in the school.

Installation Ceremony

Installation ceremony of students as leaders of the school was conducted on 7th August 2017. Rev Sam Mathew Kavumkal blessed the students and they were presented with badges.

Independence Day Celebration

Independence Day celebration was conducted in the school on 15th August 2017. Rev Sam Mathew Kavumkal hoisted the National flag. Lt Koshy Vaghese was the chief Guest of the occasion. A mass drill was performed in which 100 students participated under the leadership of Capt. Joy Varghese our Physical Education Teacher. Lt Koshy Varghese was honoured by presenting Ponnada. Patriotic songs were sung by the students. Mr. Eipe John, Bursar, Mr. Leju Jose Chandy, PTA President, Kumari Kesia Grace Biji felicitated on the occasion. Mrs. Liby Elizabeth Mathew, Vice Principal welcomed the gathering and Mr. Nisha Mareen Joseph proposed vote of thanks. A quiz competition was also held in connection with Independence Day celebration.

Onam Celebration

Onam celebration of the school was conducted on 22nd August 2017. Students presented various programmes and competitions were also held. Onam payasam was sponsored by the PTA.

Rubella Awareness Programme

An awareness programme for parents regarding Rubella vaccine was conducted by PHC,Ala on 29th September 2017 and the vaccine was administered to students. Most of the students were vaccinated.

Sandwanam

The simplest acts of kindness are far more powerful than a thousand heads bowing in prayer.In order to instill the act of kindness, in students and to help the needy in the society a programme sandwanam was conducted by the charity club on 6th October 2017 at 9 am. Rev Sam Mathew Kavumkal presided over the meeting. Mr. Jebin P Varghese, District Panachayat Member, Mr. T K Soman,Panchayat Member, Mr. Leju Jose Chandy, PTA Presidents, Church Wardens Mr Koshy Varghese and Mr. J Johnson were present at the meeting. Mr. Eipe John, Bursar felicitated on the occasion. Mrs. Manju Elizabeth Mathew introduced the beneficiaries. Financial assistance was extended to patients suffering from cancer and kidney disorders. Mr. K G Samuel Principal welcomed the gathering and Mrs. Liby Elizabeth Mathew proposed vote of thanks.

Tour programme

Field trips and study tours help a student to acquire factual knowledge about nature. As part of education of students a two day study tour was conducted by tour committee to Trivandrum & Kanyakumari. Students visited the Planetarium, zoo, vivekanda rock, royal palace at Thakkala and Bay Watch.

Scholarship Exam

During the academic, we have conducted two scholarship examinations of Association of Sahodayas of kerala, Bicentary Scholarship Examination of CSI Madhya Kerala Diocese.

Annual sports meet

The annual sports meet was held on 17th November 2017. An inaugural function was held as part of the annual sports meet.Rev Sam Mathew Kavumkal, Local Manager was chairman and Dr. B Anish SI of Police, was guest of honour. Mr. Eipe John, Bursar and Mr. Leju Jose Chandy, PTA President were present on the occasion.

Christmas celebration

The Christmas celebration of the school was conducted on 23rd December 2017. Rev Sam Mathew Kavumkal, Local Manager presided over the function and gave the Christmas message. Mr. Eipe John, Bursar and Kumari Lakshmi Santhosh spoke on the occasion. Mrs. Sinu Thomas welcomed the gathering and Mrs Vidya V proposed Vote of thanks. Students sang Christmas carols, presented various dance, programmes and a tablo.

Kalotsavam

To bring out various talents embedded in students, Kalotsavam was conducted for two days. Various competitions were held between the four houses. The winners were sent to Nirmal Jyothi Public School, Mallappally and Believer’s Church Residential School, Thiruvalla conducted by Central Travancore Sahodaya Complex(CTSC).

Nursery Renovation

The ground floor of the school building was renovated and the nursery section was shifted there during this academic year. The nursery section has all the necessary facilities. The renovation work was done under the supervision of Mr. Eipe John, Bursar of our school. Let me convey our heartfelt thanks to Mr Eipe John.

Staff Meeting

Periodic staff meetings are held and subject wise discussions are made. New strategies are planned for the betterment of the school and to empower teachers. Yearly and monthly plans are formulated during the staff meeting.

Training Programmes

Teachers attended various training programmes during the academic year.

1. Teachers training programme on 10th June2017 at Nirmal Jyothi Public School, Mallapally. 2. Teachers training programme for teachers was conducted by CTSC on Class rooming (22nd July 2017) at Eminence Public School, Kulanada . 3. Capacity building programme on Remodeled Assessment structure conducted by CBSE at SDV English Medium High School, Alappuzha. 4. Capacity building programme for teachers by Kerala CBSE School Management Association was held at St. Gregorious Senior Secondary School, Mulakkazha.

Examination

Unit tests, periodic tests and half yearly exam were conducted as scheduled. Parents were informed about the progress of their wards and open house was also conducted.

Governing Council

The Governing council evaluates the functioning of the school and gives necessary guidance and support for the smooth conduct of the school. This year a new Governing Council was constituted. I extend my whole hearted thanks to the governing council.

I use this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks to our moderator and Bishop Most Rev. Thomas K Oommen and Diocesan office bearers for their relentless guidance.

Let me convey my sincere thanks to Mr. Jose Paikat, the manager of self financing schools, Madhya Kerala Diocese for the support and guidance in the day to day functioning of the school.

We are lucky to have the unfailing support of the church wardens, church committee members and all the members of CSI Christ Church, Kodukulanji Our Local Manager, Rev Sam Mathew Kavumkal has been with us in each and every activity. With great reverence I thank Achen for his selfless service and involvement.

Rev Chandy Jose has always readily accepted our invitation and been with us. Achen is a well wisher of our school. I express my deep gratitude to Achen.

Students participated in the YMCA painting competitions and Christmas carol celebration at Kodukulanji.

Students also participated and presented a dance performance at the Christmas carol function at St Thomas College of Engineering, .

PTA

We have an effective and supportive PTA and PTA meetings are conducted periodically. This year the PTA donated 60 chairs and constructed the flag stand. We express our sincere gratitude to the PTA and Mr. Leju Jose Chandy, Mrs Salini Retnam P serving as PTA President and Vice President Respectively. Annual Day Celebration

The annual day of Christ Church Vidyapith, Kodukulanji was celebrated on 19th January 2018 at 2 pm in the CSI Christ Church Parish Hall. The public meeting began with a prayer by a Rev Chandy Jose. Rev Sam Mathew Kavumkal, Local Manager presided over the meeting. Mr. K G Samuel, Principal presented annual report of the school and Mr. Jacob Philip, Registrar of CSI Madhya Kerala Diocese inaugurated the function by delivering the inaugural address and thereafter lighting the traditional lamp. Mr. Anish V Korah , DySP , was the Chief Guest and Mr. Jose Paikat, Manager Self Financing School, CSI Madhya Kerala Diocese delivered the Keynote address. Mr. Eipe John, Bursar, Mr. J Johnson, Church Warden CSI Christ Church Kodukulanji, Mr. Leju Jose Chandy,PTA President and Master Cyril P John spoke on the occasion.

Endowment prizes were given to students of classes 7, 8, 9 and 10. Proficiency prizes were given to students from class 1 to 10.

1. The Best outgoing student 2. Sports champion girl and boy 3. Kalaprathibha 4. Kalathilakam 5. Best House 6. The team which won the football tournament

Mrs Liby Elizabeth Mathew, Vice Principal welcomed the gathering and Mrs Nisha Mareen Joseph, Staff Secretary proposed vote of thanks. The public meeting was followed by variety entertainments by students.

Conclusion

May I take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to both teaching and non teaching staff, students, parents and well wishers for their whole hearted cooperation extended for the smooth conduct of the school.

Let me conclude this report by entrusting our school into the divine hands of God Almighty. I Pray that our institution should become one which imparts good education and moulds the young generation.
