SUMMER LINK UP – Fun & Games Thanks to funding from Young Co-op, and two projects delivered by Goldstars Vision and Sports City , over 100 children and young people were able to participate in multi-sports and carnival activities, including 57 going on a trip to Cardiff Municipality Stadium, and others attending a number of fun days and festivals including the Love Clapham Park Fun Day; Notting Hill Carnival and Kingston Carnival. Kelly, 15 years old, one of the Carnival participants, designed the costumes on paper; made the head pieces for the children and also did the make up for all those involved in the parade at the Love Clapham Park Fun Day. She really enjoyed her time at the project.

COMMUNITY CONSULTATION

In June 2018 Clapham Park Project’s Board wanted more engagement with local residents returning to a grassroots approach. Many new people have come to live in the area and are not aware of the impact the housing regeneration programme will have on the local community. People are saying they do want to have a voice and to be able to have influence on local issues. It was suggested there should be a resident’s group. A solid month of consultation was carried out by CPP staff, visiting and talking to residents.

The response has been very good. Please come and join the forum for community engagement and networking. Take part in the decision making that will impact upon your community!

Message me with your e-mail and we will be in touch with dates for meetings.

PADDLING POOL RE-OPENED

The Friends of Agnes Riley Gardens have secured funding from ‘Our Space Award’ to help repair the paddling pool. Working with the council and thanks to some dedicated volunteers and lots of time and hard work and effort, we re-opened it this summer. This is a long-awaited project and we hope the children enjoy it.

If you are interested in being involved in improving the park , whether it’s the paddling pool, playground or the community garden, please get in touch with the Friends on [email protected] or [email protected].
