LORENCE, JEFF MARCUS, AND ARIITEUIRA FALCHETTO With its large, initially undivided leaves; big, curious, warty fruits; monotypic nature; and mysterious, remote, island habitat, Pelagodoxa henryana has long fascinated palm botanists, collectors and growers, and been one of the holy grails of all who have an interest in palms. The possibility of a second species of Pelagodoxa has generated a substantial amount of interest but the recent literature on the subject has dismissed this prospect and accepted or recognized only one species. However, for 40 years the senior author has propagated and grown P. henryana nearly side by side with a second species of the genus, first in Hawaii, U.S.A and later at his wife’s home in Papeari, Tahiti, French Polynesia, allowing ample opportunity to compare and contrast the two species at various stages of development. An article we wrote reassessing the genus Pelagodoxa was published in the journal PALMS [Hodel et al., Reassessment of Pelagodoxa, PALMS 63(3): 113-146. 2019]. In it we document substantial and critical differences between the two species, P. henryana and P. mesocarpa, establish the validity and resurrect the name of the second species from synonymy, discuss molecular data, phylogeny and phytogeography, ethnobotany and conservation of Pelagodoxa and what impact, if any, they might have had in its speciation and insular distribution. -

The current paper presents an initial analysis of the higher-level disaggregation using the Handbook of the Birds of the World/BirdLife International Illustrated Checklist of the Birds of the World Volumes 1 and 2 taxonomy, and identifies the challenges in completing the analysis to identify all of the migratory species and the corresponding Range States. The document has been prepared by the COP Appointed Scientific Councilors for Birds. Environmental Justice Increased attention has been given to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) related to its ability to balance overall mobility benefits of transportation projects against protecting quality of life of low-income and minority residents of a community. -

This paper aims at unveiling some of the mysteries covering the issue of so-called “Islamic fundamentalism” in Chechnya. A comparison of the native Sufi branch of Islam and the imported Wahhaby ideology is made, in order to discover the contradictions and the conflicts that the spreading of the latter inflicted in the Chechen society. Furthermore, the paper investigates the main challenges President Aslan Maskhadov was facing at the beginning of his mandate, and the way he managed to cope with them. The paper does not attempt to cover all the aspects of the Chechen problem; nevertheless, a quick enumeration of other factors influencing the developments in Chechnya in the past three years is made. 1 Research assistant Danish Institute of International Affairs (DUPI) 1 1. Introduction To address the issues of stability in North Caucasus in general and in Chechnya in particular is a difficult task. The factors that have contributed to the start of the first and of the second armed conflicts in Chechnya are indeed many. History, politics, economy, traditions, religion, all of them contributed to a certain extent to the launch of what began as an anti-terrorist operation and became a full scale armed conflict. The narrow framework of this presentation does not allow for an exhaustive analysis of the Russian- Chechen relations and of the permanent tensions that existed there during the known history of that part of North Caucasus. -
The Psychological Province of the Reader in Hamlet Ali
THE PSYCHOLOGICAL PROVINCE OF THE READER IN HAMLET ALI SALAMI1 Introduction The baffling diversity of responses to Hamlet, tainted by philosophy, psychology, religion, politics, history and ethics, only conduces to the ever-increasing complications of the play. In Hamlet, the imagination runs wild and travels far beyond the text, to the extent that the reader perceives things that stand not within but utterly without the text. In reading the play, the reader finds in themselves hidden meanings and pent-up feelings and relates them to the play. In the process of reading Hamlet, the reader’s imagination fails to grasp the logic of events. Therefore, instead of relating the events to their world, the reader relates their own world to the text. As a result, the world perceived by the reader is not Hamlet’s but the reader’s. In other words, every reader brings their own world to the play. This study seeks to show how the reader can detach themselves from Hamlet and let their imagination run free. It also shows that the reality achieved by the reader in the course of reading the play is only the reality that dwells in the innermost recesses of their own mind. Hamlet the Character By general consent, Hamlet is one of the most complicated characters in the history of Western literature. With the development of psychoanalysis, Hamlet the character has been widely treated as a real person, rather than one created by a human mind. Even the greatest scholars have taken Hamlet out of the text and analysed and psychoanalysed him as a human personality, albeit with little success as to the discovery of the real motivations of the character. -

This study aims to determine the types of insects Coleoptera, Hemiptera, Odonata, Orthoptera and Lepidoptera in the Boyong River, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, to develop the Encyclopedia of the Boyong River Insect and to determine the quality of the encyclopedia developed. The method used in the research inventory of the types of insects Coleoptera, Hemiptera, Odonata, Orthoptera and Lepidoptera insects in the Boyong River survey method with the results of the study found 46 species of insects consisting of 2 Coleoptera Orders, 2 Hemiptera Orders, 18 orders of Lepidoptera in Boyong River survey method with the results of the research found 46 species of insects consisting of 2 Coleoptera Orders, 2 Hemiptera Orders, 18 orders of Lepidoptera in Boyong River survey method. odonata, 4 Orthopterous Orders and 20 Lepidopterous Orders from 15 families. The encyclopedia that was developed was created using the Adobe Indesig application which was developed in printed form. Testing the quality of the encyclopedia uses a checklist questionnaire and the results of the percentage of ideals from material experts are 91.1% with very good categories, 91.7% of media experts with very good categories, peer reviewers 92.27% with very good categories, biology teachers 88, 53% with a very good category and students 89.8% with a very good category. -

Email: [email protected] Introduction Three families in the superfamily Calopterygoidea occur in China, viz. the Calo- pterygidae, Chlorocyphidae and Euphaeidae. They include numerous species that are distributed widely across South China, mainly in streams and upland running waters at moderate altitudes. To date, our knowledge of Chinese spe- cies has remained inadequate: the taxonomy of some genera is unresolved and no attempt has been made to map the distribution of the various species and genera. This project is therefore aimed at providing taxonomic (including on larval morphology), biological, and distributional information on the super- family in South China. In 2009, two series of surveys were conducted to Southwest China-Guizhou and Yunnan Provinces. The two provinces are characterized by karst limestone arranged in steep hills and intermontane basins. The climate is warm and the weather is frequently cloudy and rainy all year. This area is usually regarded as one of biodiversity “hotspot” in China (Xu & Wilkes, 2004). Many interesting species are recorded, the checklist and photos of these sur- veys are reported here. And the progress of the research on the superfamily Calopterygoidea is appended. Methods Odonata were recorded by the specimens collected and identified from pho- tographs. Dow 2020 1 Report on collecting of Odonata in Ravenscourt FMU and Paya Maga, 2020 SUMMARY The results of collecting of Odonata (dragonflies and damselflies) in Limbang Division in July 2020 are reported. Collecting was conducted primarily in the Ravenscourt Forest Management Unit (FMU) with two days spent at the Paya Maga Conservation Area. Details of the research permit and dates on which collecting was carried out are listed. Forty-nine species were recorded during the survey, 36 species were recorded in the Ravenscourt FMU and 22 at Paya Maga. Although the total number of species recorded in the Ravenscourt FMU may appear low, it actually represents high diversity for the altitude range, terrain and habitat types surveyed and the part of Sarawak in which the FMU is situated. Thirty-seven (16 at Paya Maga, 29 at Ravenscourt) of the species recorded during the survey are forest species, e.g. species dependent on forest for their survival, and 29 (13 at Paya Maga, 24 at Ravenscourt) are endemic to Borneo; it is species in one or both of these categories that are typically of highest conservation concern.
