On positive note, the disparity in gender salary decreases when education level ascends itself upwards into tertiary education (such as BACHELOR’S DEGREE Diploma, Bachelor's Degree & Postgraduate Degree). What’s interesting is that we found women holding Postgraduate Degree earn almost the same as men with only 2% pay di erence. Below RM 1,000 1.2% Findings & analysis : RM 1,001 to 2,000 43.7% RM2,001 to 3,000 33% From the data collected, we found that 43.7% (1 in every 2 diploma students surveyed) expect to earn a monthly gure ranging from RM 1001 to RM 2000 upon graduation; and two third of them RM3,001 to 4,000 10.5% arms their desired salary amount ranges between RM 1501 to RM 2000, making this the most RM 4,001 to 5,000 2.4% desired salary range. Furthermore, 1 in every 3 diploma students surveyed,33% of them expects no RM 5,001 to 6,000 3.7% less than RM3,000 for a start. Interestingly, when we examined further into the overall data collected RM 6,001 to 7,000 0.6% from the diploma students surveyed, we found that this cohort expects to earn an average salary of RM 2,667 per month, which equates to 81% dierence in comparison to the average starting salary 0.6% RM 7,001 to 8,000 of RM1,475 earned by employees who have worked up to 2 years upon graduating from Diploma RM 8,001 to 9,000 1.0% Education. Furthermore, 32.2% expects no less than RM3,001 for a start. Interestingly, when we 3.8% RM 5,001 to 6,000 examined further into the overall data collected from the Bachelor’s Degree students surveyed, RM 6,001 to 7,000 we found that this cohort expects to earn an average salary of RM 3,008 which equates to 60% 1.3% dierence in comparison to the average starting salary of RM1,883. Though the majority has 1.0% RM 7,001 to 8,000 higher expectations, only 19.4% agree the actual salary does fall within their expected salary 0.6% RM 8,001 to 9,000 range. Like the case of the Diploma Students, we noticed a similar pattern with Bachelor’s Degree RM 9,001 to 10,000 students who are also expecting more for their starting salaries, though lesser in intensity. 0.8% The above chart illustrates the percentage of Bachelor's Degree students’ salary expectations based on a monthly wage range. 1.5% Above RM 10,001 Report 3: To examine the percentage of Postgraduate Degree students’ salary expectations

Below RM 1,000 0.7% Findings & analysis : RM 1,001 to 2,000 18% RM2,001 to 3,000 57% From the data collected, we found that 75.7% of the Postgraduate Degree students surveyed expect to earn no more than RM3,000 monthly upon graduation, this is 6 RM3,001 to 4,000 15.8% in every 8 Postgraduate Degree students surveyed; and half of them arms their RM 4,001 to 5,000 1.4% desired salary amount ranges between RM2,001 to RM2,500, making this the most desired salary range. On the other hand, 24.3% of Postgraduate Degree students RM 5,001 to 6,000 1.4% surveyed expect no less than RM3,001 for a start. In contrast to the group of RM 6,001 to 7,000 1.4% Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree students, we noticed that the Postgraduate Degree students are more pragmatic in terms of their starting salary expectations RM 8,001 to 9,000 1.4% since the dierence between the average desired starting salary amount (RM RM 9,001 to 10,000 2.2% 2,854) is just 33% higher than the average starting salary (RM2,145). To assert this Above RM 10,001 0.7% point, 55.4% (1 in every 2 Postgraduate Degree students surveyed) agree that the actual salary does fall within their expected salary range. The above chart illustrates the percentage of Postgraduate Degree students’ salary expectations based on a monthly wage range. Report 4 : To examine the percentage of Master’s Degree students’ salary expectations

Findings & analysis : 31.5% RM 1,001 to 2,000 From the data collected, we found that 68.5% (2 in every 3 Master’s Degree students 37% RM2,001 to 3,000 surveyed) expect to earn no more than RM3,000 monthly upon graduation; and more than 23.7% RM3,001 to 4,000 half of them arms their desired salary amount ranges between RM2,001 to RM3,000, 2.6% RM 4,001 to 5,000 making this the most desired salary range. Interestingly, when comparing the dierence between the average desired starting salary amount of RM2737 with the average starting 2.6% RM 5,001 to 6,000 salary of RM2,528, it falls short by just 8%. This goes to show that the Master’s Degree 2.6% RM 9,001 to 10,000 students surveyed are the most pragmatic among the rest of the groups in this sense since two third of them agree that the actual salary falls within their expected salary range. We also The above chart illustrates the percentage of Master’s Degree students’ salary expectations based on a monthly wage range. noted 31.5% of Master’s Degree students surveyed expects no less than RM3,001 for a start.

Final conclusion : After a closer look at the above reports, we can conclude that as the students’ level of education increases, their level of salary expectations are much closerto the actual salaries earned by their peers working in the society. From this, we can see that the relationship between expectations in starting salaries against actual starting salaries of fresh graduates in Sarawak are more well-balanced as the level of education rises up. This may also mean that students are more realistic in their demands in salaries when they reach a higher education level.
