There has been some confusion as to the identity of the Bishop Sullivan on our list of priests with substantiated allegations of abuse of minors. It is NOT the former Bishop of Kansas City – St. Joseph John Joseph Sullivan who served here as bish- op from 1977-1993. It refers to deceased Baton Rouge Bishop Joseph Vincent Sullivan who served here as a priest from 1946-1967 and as auxiliary from 1967 to 1974, before being appointed Bishop of Baton Rouge in 1974. He died in 1982.

The various rooms and ministries in our diocese named after Bishop Sullivan are named after our former Bishop John Jo- seph Sullivan, who is NOT the man on our list of accused.
