The centre is surrounded by live businesses, adjacent to a railway line and nursing home, and was used as the main thoroughfare for the town’s shopping area. Midas delivered a robust traffi c management plan, safely segregated the works and established 24-hour security measures. Queens Arcade Location: Cardiff Client: Sapphire Retail Fund Ltd Value: £2.4m Duration: 40 weeks Project Summary The scheme involved the design and construction of an extension to the existing shopping mall at Queens Arcade. This included the infi lling of the existing entrance well leading into the complex, together with the establishment of a high quality façade along the Queen Street building line. Works included the removal of existing escalators and the construction of replacement escalators within the mall together with the formation of two high quality retail units over two fl oors. The project increased the lettable retail space by over 14,000sqft and included a new 15m glass atrium for an enhanced arrival experience. The existing electrical and mechanical services were also extended to service the new trading areas. All works were carried out without any disruption to the daily trading activities of the mall. The refurbished store provides nearly 80,000ft² of internal space. Works involved demolition and refurbishment of retail units whilst the surrounding shopping centre remained open to the public. Midas extended the fl oor space on both levels, incorporating the adjacent units, to allow room for the creation of a new Lipsy woman’s area, a men’s department, a women’s department and a children’s department for Next. The staff facilities included administration offi ces, toilets, cash and communication rooms, staff canteen and training space. Midas completed the works over three phases, including works on a Next satellite warehouse based three miles away. The Annual Report is presented in compliance with section 5.2 of the constitution adopted by PRIDE in Gloucestershire on 21st January 2018. Chair’s Welcome This past year for Pride in the county has been one of both change and of refocusing the pride movement on the community and promoting further transparency and accountability. I have been honoured to have been able to lead the team behind these changes and it has given me so much pleasure in the knowledge that we have got the pride movement back on track in the county. I am also overjoyed that we have managed to provide a Pride that has managed to become financially secure. With the difficult beginning for the community at the beginning of the year having found out that the previous charity running the pride event was not going to pursue the event due to spiralling costs, it has been amazing to see the community rallying round the newly formed organisation and committee. Donations and support coming to us from the community has been amazing and from myself I would like to say a huge massive thank you to you all. I would like to extend a particular thanks to all of our members, having this year become a member lead organisation.
