Die Namakwa Distriksmunisipaliteit wil graag alle Raadslede voorspoed toewens met die opleiding en spreek die hoop uit dat dit ‘n betekenisvolle impak gaan he op die manier hoe ons ons gemeenskappe dien met meer toegewydheid, volrondheid en kapasiteit. 3 NDM se Jeffrey Saal Met West Coast se Yvette Schroeder en Studente op die MQA/NSF/NDM Program Die Namakwa Distriksmunisipaliteit (NDM) het Donderdag, 08 September, belangrike samesprekings bygewoon rakende die Mynbou Kwalifikasie Owerheid (MQA) en die Nasionale Vaardigheidsfonds (NSF) se Jeug Vakman Opleidingsprojek by die Namakwaland Kampus in Okiep. Hierdie projek het al reeds begin met die opname van studente in verskillende fases van opleiding in verskeie velde soos elektrisien, swyser en dieselwerktuigkundige. Die projek beoog om sowat 250 studente met ‘n Nasionaal erkende Rooi Seel toe te rus, wat hulle in staat sal stel om enige plek in die land maar veral in die mynbou en boubedryf in ons distrik te kan meeding vir werk. Die samesprekings is opgeroep omdat die projek die fase bereik het waar studente by verskeie werkgewers geplaas moet word vir die werkservaring komponent van die opleiding. Well at this moment, many of the technologies people dreamed off in the 1950’s and 1960’s have become a reality. Maybe we don’t have flying cars yet, but we have robots, plus there’s genetic sequencing and editing, artificial intelligence, miniaturized sensors and 3D printing too mention a few. And when you put all these technologies together, well, let just say the innovations are unexpected and surprising. This is the beginning of the next great industrial revolution, the 4th industrial revolution.

As I thought about that song, we need to mobilise the Northern Cape community behind the vision of a Modern, Growing and Successful Northern Cape Province. Over the past 25 years of democracy, concerted efforts were made to address the triple challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality in the Province. Today, we look back full of pride because of what the ANC, its allies and the people of this country have achieved. Although much has been achieved, we could have moved faster and the quality of services could have been much better. Many of our people are still longing for their own home, a decent work opportunity, good health services, quality public education system, safer communities and many more. 2 | P a g e The Freedom Charter remains our inspiration and our strategic guide to realising a better life and a South Africa that truly belongs to all who live in it.

He believed that the future and the prosperity of this country are in the classroom. Ladies and Gentlemen, it was Nelson Mandela the Father of our Nation that said: “Education is the most powerful weapon one can use to change the world”. Education is the most important tool that offers inner and outer strength to a person. Education is the fundamental right of everyone and capable of bringing any desired change and upliftment in the human mind and society. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years of his life and this did not dim the light of hope that he ignited in the hearts of freedom-loving South Africans. I rise to address this House on this important day in the history of our country, when we celebrate 62nd anniversary of the Freedom Charter - a historic document that is to our Movement what our Constitution is to our nation. The Freedom Charter was our battle cry during the struggle, and indeed our answer to every evil thing that defined the apartheid system. Page | 2 When it said "South Africa Belongs to All of us, black and white", the Freedom Charter defied the very definition of apartheid which turned citizens into foreigners in their own country through the Bantustan system, and reinforced racial divisions, seeing differences in our racial appearance as the reason to separate us instead of moulding us into the rainbow nation we have been constructing since 1994. Honourable Speaker, our country has been down-graded by three rating agencies with a continuous negative outlook recently. The credit rating downgrade means higher debt service costs, which will have in turn to be financed through increased taxes or reduced public spending. The recent decline of 0.7 percent in the gross domestic product for first quarter of 2017 compounded with the contraction of 0.3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2016, resulted in the announcement of a technical recession.
