A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted to investigate the seroprevalence of C. burnetii in human populations of Erzincan province located in the eastern Turkey, identify the risk factors, and to explore the relationship between geographical features. Methods: A total of 368 people residing in the rural (306) and urban (62) areas of the province were included in the study. Serum samples were analyzed for the presence of C. burnetii phase II IgG antibody using ELISA (Virion/ Serion, Wurzburg, Germany). Spatial analyses were performed to evaluate correlations between seroprevalence and geographical features. Results: The overall seroprevalence of C. burnetii was found to be 8.7% (32/368). In rural residents it was 8.5% (26/306), while in urban population it was 9.7% (6/62).

  • Erzincan İlinin Topografik Analizi Ve İdari Sınırlar İlişkisi, Bazı Sorunlar 285 Konuyla Ilgili Internet Kaynakları Taranmıştır
Erzincan Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Dergisi (ERZSOSDE) XI-I: 283-304 [2018] ERZİNCAN İLİNİN TOPOGRAFİK ANALİZİ VE İDARİ SINIRLAR İLİŞKİSİ, BAZI SORUNLAR1 TOPOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS AND ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ERZİNCAN PROVINCE, SOME PROBLEMS Vedat KARADENİZ2, M. Samet ALTINBİLEK3 ÖZET: Türkiye’de idari taksimata göre en büyük idari birim illerdir.

Nine of the specimens examined were belong to Typhlopidae, 17 to Leptotyphlopidae, 9 to Boidae, 112 to Colubridae, 14 Natricidae, 4 Psammophiidae, 1 to Elapidae, and 5 to Viperidae families. As a result of the field studies, Satunin's Black-Headed Dwarf Snake, Rhynchocalamus satunini (Nikolsky, 1899) was reported for the first time from Şanlıurfa province. The specimen belonging to Zamenis hohenackeri (Strauch, 1873) given in the literature could not be observed during this study. THE CURRENT SITUATION OF THREATENED ENDEMIC FLORA IN TURKEY: KEMALIYE (ERZİNCAN) CASE ZÖHRE BULUT* AND HASAN YILMAZ Department of Landscape Architecture, Faculty of Agriculture, Adnan Menderes University, South Campus, Aydın, Turkey *Corresponding author: E-mail: [email protected] Abstract The flora in Turkey is an outstanding one in terms of its biodiversity and the variety of endemic plant species. Of 3504 endemic plants in Turkey, 12 are known to have been extinct and 3492 (99 %) are still being threatened. Of 61 endemic plants in Kemaliye region, 5 is known to have been extinct and 54 (88%) to be threatened. This study provides some suggestions about conservation and management of such plants by considering their threatened categories. Introduction Biological diversity consists of three hierarchical categories viz., gene, species and ecosystem. Species diversity implies the diversity of species in a certain region or all over the world (Anon., 2001). According to Hunter (1996), biodiversity consists of five components: 1) genetic, 2) species, 3) community, 4) landscape and 5) process or function (Kaya & Raynal, 2001). The fact that a plant grows only in a certain local area is defined as endemism. In other words, plants which can grow only in a specific and limited region on the earth’s surface are called endemic plants.

  • CIRCASSIANS of UZUNYAYLA, TURKEY Eiji
MEMORY POLITICS: CIRCASSIANS OF UZUNYAYLA, TURKEY Eiji Miyazawa A dissertation submitted for the degree of PhD. Department of Anthropology and Sociology Faculty of Arts and Humanities School of Oriental and African Studies University of London MEMORY POLITICS: CIRCASSIANS OF UZUNYAYLA, TURKEY BY EIJI MIYAZAWA ABSTRACT This thesis explores social memories among Circassians in Turkey. It is based on eighteen months’ field research in the Uzunyayla plateau, Pınarbaşı district of Kayseri province, central Turkey. The Circassians (Çerkez) settled there are the descendants of refugees who fled from the Russian invasion of the Caucasus in the mid nineteenth century. “Memory” here is used in a broad sense to include the experiences and expressions of historical consciousness in everyday interactions, as well as articulated historical narratives. By interweaving them, the present work aims to analyse the political process involved in the production of knowledge about history and society. In efforts to reproduce a community in their new homeland, Circassians emphasise their history and collective identity. The local elites from noble (worq) families dominate such conservative, essentialist discourses, stressing their status superiority over ex-slave families. They recognise historical significance and identify the driving forces of their history by reference to specific social themes, such as the opposition between the two status groups. They monopolise history as a resource by excluding ex-slaves from the production of authoritative knowledge. Here, memory politics, consisting of space construction, control over interpersonal exchanges, and hierarchized personhood, plays a crucial role. In that process, ex-slaves become muted, made passively to embody a “feudal” past. By contrast, in Karakuyu, an affluent village also known as “Slave Village”, male comrades produce social relations different from elite representations by committing themselves to alcohol drinking.
