p. 11 Welcome to IÉSEG School of Management A message from the Dean Dr. Jean-Philippe Ammeux, Dean Dear International Student, Welcome to IÉSEG and congratulations on your choice of international study. We sincerely hope the experience you have in Lille or Paris will be of great benefit to you, both personally and professionally. Studying in France, at IÉSEG School of Management, is an ideal way to broaden your international experience, and we will be delighted to count you as one of our students. Our school, which you will get to know better thanks to this guide and to the various materials you receive from us or consult on our website, has its mission to train those who will be the future actors of corporate development, in all the varied fields of business administration. To achieve this goal, we have adopted a well-structured and complete five-year programme leading to the award of the IÉSEG degree, a Master of Science in Management Degree validated by the French Ministry for Education. Our pedagogical project blends a conceptual and theoretical approach with significant field experience in corporate environments, and places a strong emphasis on the international dimension. We have the resources we need to achieve our ambitions : a small, friendly school, equipped to the most recent standards, high-quality faculty and tutors from both university and corporate backgrounds. Among the French Schools of Management, IÉSEG is unusual in offering the virtues of both a university education (we are part of France’s largest private university) and a professional orientation, accredited by the “Conférence des Grandes Écoles”, EQUIS and AACSB as well as ranked 24th in the World by the Financial Times. At IÉSEG, we believe that business education must by nature be international : we have integrated this dimension into our curriculum and we encourage international study : more than 85% of our students spend at least one year outside of France, and we have an annual intake of around 1 000 exchange students from over 220 partner universities around the world in 51 countries. 5 International students make a major contribution to IÉSEG through the diversity of their experiences, perceptions and study traditions. Through interaction, they enrich both our student body and their own personal experience. To choose IÉSEG is to choose a style of education which is both academically rigorous and well- adapted to employers’ needs, a faculty which is both high-quality and accessible, and a school which believes strongly in internationalisation. IÉSEG also offers a well-developed social life : a school of human dimensions, with a strong identity, at the heart of France’s leading private university. We will be very happy to welcome you to IÉSEG and we will do our best to make your experience, both academic and personal, as enriching as possible. Welcome to France. Welcome to Lille. Welcome to Paris. Welcome to IÉSEG. Dr. Jean-Philippe Ammeux , A message from the Associate Dean We are very pleased to welcome you to IÉSEG School of Management. We hope that this guide will assist you in preparing your arrival at IÉSEG and that your stay here will meet all your expectations. I and the staff at the International Relations Department, we are always here to assist you with your stay in Lille or in Paris and answer any questions you may have. Please come by or contact us at any time if you are in need of assistance. We wish you an enriching and enjoyable experience at IÉSEG and we look forward to meeting you soon. F 9555 . 12586 2-5 Abstract After the restoration of peace in 1815, several European countries sought to transform their economies by the direct borrowing of British technologies. One of these was the semi- autonomous Kingdom of Poland. The Kingdom's technology transfer initiatives have been largely ignored by foreign researchers, while Polish historians have failed to place developments in the Kingdom within a wider context of European followership. The varying fortunes of Polish transfer initiatives offer valuable insights into the mechanisms and constraints of the transfer process. A close study of attempts to introduce British technologies in mechanical engineering, metallurgy, railway construction, textile production and agriculture contradicts most Polish scholarship by establishing that most of the transfer initiatives were either misplaced or at least premature.

  • Press Kit Lille 2016
www.lilletourism.com PRESS KIT LILLE 2016 ALL YOU NEED IS LILLE Press Release Just 80 minutes away from London, 1 hour from Paris and 35 minutes from Brussels, Lille could quite easily have melted into the shadows of its illustrious neighbours, but instead it is more than happy to cultivate and show off all that makes it stand out from the crowd! Flemish, Burgundian and then Spanish before it became French, Lille boasts a spectacular heritage. A trading town since the Middle Ages, a stronghold under Louis XIV, a hive of industry in the 19th century and an ambitious hub in the 20th century, Lille is now imbued with the memories of the past, interweaved with its visions for the future. While the Euralille area is a focal point of bold architecture by Rem Koolhaas, Jean Nouvel or Christian de Portzamparc, the Lille-Sud area is becoming a Mecca for fashionistas. Since 2007, some young fashion designers (sponsored by Agnès b.) have set up workshops and boutiques in this new “fashion district” in the making. With lille3000, it’s the whole city that has started to look towards the future, enjoying a dramatic makeover for this new recurrent event, geared towards contemporary art and innovation. The European Capital of Culture in 2004, Lille is now a leading light in this field, with the arts ma- king themselves quite at home here. From great museums to new alternative art centres, from the Opera to the theatres through the National Or- chestra, culture is a living and breathing part of everyday life here.
