According to him, he 'remains one of the most compelling, appalling and universally hated figures in music history.' If you think that's a little too generous, Kenneth Coleman has written his own tribute to Quine. Let me just say that I don't see how you can just say that Quine is a sideman or collaborator who happened to work with Richard Hell, Lou Reed, Brian Eno, Tom Waits, Matthew Sweet and others- he's been an important part of their music, critically shaping it. Since most of his work has been working with these better-known performers, he hasn't become a household name himself. His guitar playing is certainly distinctive enough to warrant this but the fact is that he technically has only two albums to his name (both collaborations). Even so, anyone familiar with his work is rabid about him as I found out when I asked around to drill up some support for this interview. Any old session man can play the right notes in time but Quine just plain TEARS IT UP and takes no prisoners. You KNOW when he plays a solo. How about calilng him a guitarist's guitarist? Hace cuatro años, Lou Reed se fue caminando tranquilo por el lado salvaje Cerebro y motor de Velvet Underground , agrupación estadounidense que influyó a cuanta vanguardia contracultural se levantara por la música de Occidente desde fines de los años 60, Lou Reed estuvo siempre allá arriba. A los 71 años dejó este mundo un día 27 de octubre de 2013, yéndose tranquilo, caminando por ese lado de la vía que siempre le atrajo. Generalmente incomprendido, aunque siempre respetado, el músico colaboró permanentemente a la cultura de darle el beneficio a la duda a todo lo que se moviera. Con la muerte del destacado artista se fueron casi cincuenta años de música rock, industria en la que el compositor y guitarrista influyó enormemente. Foto original de Guido Harari. Con una carrera que compartió con igual intensidad talento con excesos, Reed había optado en la última década por una vida más ordenada y tranquila. A pesar de eso, la salud cobraba sus cuentas y en mayo del 2013 se sometió a un complejo transplante de hígado, del cual -al parecer- nunca quedó bien, según la revista musical estadounidense Rolling Stone. Meine These lautet, dass Heroin – vor dem Hintergrund der pop-histori- schen Umwälzungen in der zweiten Hälfte der 1960er Jahre, die man als eine ›Sattel- zeit‹ der Popmusik ansehen kann – aus einem dreifachen Prozess der ›Verkunstung‹ resultiert, der auf verschiedenen Typen von Konventionsverletzung beruht. Diese betreffen die konventionellen Regeln der Verpackung (Andy Warhols Bananenco- ver), ebenso textliche (die ebenso neutrale wie pointiert literarische Darstellung des Drogenkonsums) und musikalische Konventionen (J.
