Hello, I am Hanyang University’s 15th president Kim Woo-seung. The world is currently facing a turning point at the start of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Among many social changes, universities are facing unprecedented challenges, and I believe only those that succeed in transforming the education paradigm will survive the fierce competition. However, such a major shift can be both a crisis and an opportunity. Since its foundation in 1939, Hanyang University has used the rapidly changing social environment as a stepping stone for opportunities. By fueling the drive to change and to challenge, it is leading dynamic innovation and has become a prestigious global university. The rapid development it has been leading over the past 80 years embraces the core values of Hanyang University, “Love in Deed and Truth” and “Pragmatic Academia.” We will take the lead in fostering “practitioners of love in deed and truth” through education that not just any school can provide, but that which is possible because we are Hanyang. Dr. Kim Lyun-joon Hanyang Engineering 1939 founded Dong-A 1948 College is established Engineering Institute in and accredited by the Seoul government (the first private engineering college in Korea)
Hanyang University Hanyang Engineering 1972 Medical Center is 1959 College is renamed as established Hanyang University
Ansan Campus Hanyang Volunteer (current ERICA Corps, Korea’s first 1979 Campus), the second 1994 university volunteer Hanyang University service center is campus, opened in established Banwol industrial City, Gyeonggi Province
