Communiqué De Presse 10 JUIN 2017 Mixed emotions for Renault e.dams from Saturday’s Berlin ePrix After poor qualifying results that saw Nico Prost start from ninth on the grid and Séb Buemi fourteenth, Renault e.dams drove a strong first race at the Berlin ePrix doubleheader. Championship leader Séb Buemi took fifth place at the chequered flag, with teammate Nico Prost one place adrift in sixth. Postrace, however, Séb was disqualified for his car failing to comply with the minimum tyre pressure. When the lights went out, both drivers made strong starts but failed to make up any positions on the opening lap. Their mission was then to carve their way through the field, with Séb Buemi first to make progress by overtaking Stéphane Sarrazin on lap 7 to go P12. Nico also saw an opportunity and made a bold move on Maro Engel into Turn 1 to take eighth place. A few laps later, Séb was again on the move and made a manoeuvre stick on the inside of Jérôme d’Ambrosio at Turn 9 and gained another place. Before both drivers made their mandatory car swap, Séb Buemi was in ninth position while Nico Prost was seventh. After a great car change, Prost headed back out on track in sixth. It was not long before Séb was back attacking his rivals and made another confident pass on Daniel Abt for P8. With ten laps to go, the title leader pulled off a superb move on Sam Bird and took P7 before overtaking his teammate for P6. -

Case in point, this is version three of an attempt to write this news journal for the club in December 2020, and the main reason on this struggle? Lack of motivation as a result of getting sick. I realised I caught the flu (real flu – not man flu), and a check in with my Doctor revealed a severe lack of Vitamin D (That’s lack of sunlight) and Vitamin B. In turn with all that going on, I was working 12-hour days, and something had to give. -

EC8.19 October 4, 2019 To: Chair and Members of the Economic and Community Development Committee: Re: Exploring the potential opportunity of Toronto becoming a host city of Formula E: the sustainable electric motorsport of the 21st century Dear colleagues, I am writing to request that we explore the potential to bring FormulaE to the City of Toronto. Formula E was conceived in 2011 by FIA (International Automobile Federation) President and former Scuderia Ferrari General Manager Jean Todt and Spanish businessman Alejandro Agag as the world's first all-electric international car racing platform. The first race was held in Beijing's Olympic Park in 2014, and has grown into a global entertainment brand with 11 teams and 22 drivers. There are multiple major international corporate sponsors and 9 global automobile manufacturers are engaged; including Jaguar, Nissan, BMW, Audi, DS (Peugeot), and Mahindra. Formula E describes its venue metropolises as being the 'most progressive' cities in the world, and they include New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Seoul, Jakarta, Rome, and Mexico City, among others. Formula E markets itself as a cutting edge catalyst to propel the latest electric vehicle design and research work, as well as improving driving experiences for everyday car users of all classes and types, all while providing incredible entertainment. As the capital city of North America's top auto-producing region with over 2.2 million vehicles assembled in 2017, Toronto has long benefited from the economic activity, employment, and tax revenue generated by the automobile sector. Over 200 companies in southern Ontario are developing autonomous vehicle technology, with our automobile sector employing over 100,000, and generating almost 20% of manufacturing GDP. -

J.C.L Torrens Master’s Thesis – Master Innovation Sciences GEO4-2239X Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University 0 Place-specific formation processes of sustainable urban experiments Abstract Cities are increasingly recognized as frontrunners in the transition to a more sustainable society due to their assembly of technology, resources, population, culture, and economics. This is, amongst others, visible from a global increase in urban actors collaborating to experiment with new sustainable configurations. These so-called sustainable urban experiments, embedded in a broader niche, are not confined to a specific spatial context but will rather emerge in complex ‘place bundles’, forming a global niche. However, the formation of a global niche is interrelated with local experimentation and is thereby locally rooted. A prime example is sustainable motorsports experiment Formula E. Formula E operates on a global scale with numerous multinational companies involved but is set in urban environments and the local regional context arguably influences the formation of such events. In other words, Formula E is a global sustainable urban experiment which is locally embedded. Considerable variation in the way a sustainable urban experiment is formed locally is likely to exist. The objective of this study was to complement strategic niche management and sustainable transitions literature by understanding the specific place-specific factors under which global sustainable urban experiments are formed. -

MEDIA INFORMATION Putrajaya, November 7, 2015 2015/2016 FIA FORMULA E CHAMPIONSHIP Putrajaya ePrix (Round 2) The MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV rises successfully to Malaysian humidity The MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV overcame difficult weather conditions to deliver consistent, competitive performance and grip throughout the day in Putrajaya, Malaysia, despite temperatures in excess of 30°C, a track temperature of almost 50°C and humidity levels of between 60 and 90 percent. Round 2 of the 2015/2016 Formula E ePrix featured the same format as 2014, with a 12-turn, 2.5km track and the start brought forward by two hours to 2:04pm local time in order to minimise the threat of wet weather. Indeed, torrential rain swept over the city an hour after the chequered flag was shown. The hot, damp conditions made the day hard not only for the drivers, but also for the battery of their all-electric single-seater racing cars. However, the teams knew they could count on their Michelin tyres which effectively proved a match for the challenge Excellence and versatility While all the teams are using the same chassis as least season, the latest technical regulations of the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) now allow them to run their own motor, transmission and electronic management system. The rear suspension may also be modified, but the rest of the specification – including the battery – is identical to last season. Meanwhile, the FIA has authorised a power increase from 150kW to 170kW for the races, and from 170kW to 200kW in qualifying, and that has resulted in an improvement of around two seconds per lap at circuits like Putrajaya. -

This report demonstrates how sustainability is integral to our business strategy and the values of Formula E. Throughout the inaugural season we have worked hard to measure and analyse data that covers all areas of Formula E. The results from these studies and assessments have been outlined in the following report and will form a new baseline from which we will measure and report on our future performance. Formula E has many reasons to feel proud of its sustainable credentials at the end of the first season. The sustainability report aims to openly outline the fact that we are acutely aware of our environmental impacts as a company and show that we are going to lengths to ensure the reduction of our footprint where possible. As the first electric motor racing championship in the world, it can be seen that sustainability is deeply rooted in the essence of Formula E. We have a vision to speak out to the new generation of sporting fans and discover solutions for environmental issues through the fusion of technology, sustainability and innovative entertainment. We share a belief that through our collaboration with some of the world’s leading companies, in and out of motor racing, we can revolutionise sustainable mobility and change perceptions towards a better future.
