The Society also contracted with Lincoln and Civil War iconography scholar Harold Holzer to write the essay for our book of George Houghton’s Civil War photographs. Work is underway on a book tentatively titled The Vermont Way: Perspec- tives from the Green Mountain State, to be edited by Kevin Graffagnino and H. Nicholas Muller III. Several other submissions were considered, includ- ing partnering with Shelburne Farms on a compre- hensive history of that place.

Six nominations were received for the Richard O. Hathaway Award for the most outstanding contri- bution to Vermont history in any medium produced during 2007. The winner will be announced at the annual meeting.
