6 HSV Owners Club of Qld. Inc. Magazine November 2016 HSV Owners Club of Qld. Inc. Magazine November 2016 7 All Holden day Toowoomba Car Show Sunday 2nd October 2016
The Toowoomba all Holden Day was another great success once again. While our numbers this year were down on previous years, our display topped all other clubs and I for one thought our display made the show. We had over half the people that attended from the club stay at Glenfield’s Motor inn on the Saturday, which meant we were all able to have our cars all cleaned and tucked away by 2pm, and that’s when the trouble started (mainly from the girls of course) and yes you guessed it alcohol was involved !! On Saturday night we all managed to pull ourselves together and head over to Fire & Ice, where the food and alcohol continued, great meals. At 5.45am Sunday morning Les & Peter led the crew away from Redbank Plains so we could all meet up in one of the side streets in Toowoomba at 7am so we could all enter the grounds in model order. The number of cars in our Club display was a bit down on previous years with having only 26 cars on display, but in saying that it was still very impressive taking up the length of the field and HSV flags flying. Here are some of the results from the weekends show.
1st HDT VC-VK Keith Muller 1st HSV VL-VP Donald Smith 2nd HDT VC-VK Frankie Sultana 2nd HSV VL-VP Mark Evans 1st HDT VL-VN Darryl Cox 1st HSV VT-VX Martin Wells 1st HDT VE Adrian Knight 2nd HSV VT-VX Mark Evans 1st HSV VY-VZ Jarrod Wilcox 1st HSV VE Colin Humphreys 2nd HSV VE Shaun White 1st HSV E2-E3 Sonya Wells 1st Gen F Ian Huddleston 1st Coupe Craig Barrass 2nd Coupe Brad Yarrow
Best Club display went to SS owners Club; the first time in history that we have been beaten, and the only reason was they had 2 more cars than we did, so come on club members get behind this one next year so we can take our trophy back! Special Thanks goes to Ian for organizing the club trailer to be towed to Toowoomba, and of course thanks to all the members that helped set up and dismantle the display and for just being a part of the day, yes it’s a car show but it’s also a great social weekend away, after all that’s why we have our Pride and joys… to enjoy them on days like this.

8 HSV Owners Club of Qld. Inc. Magazine November 2016 Lakeside Sprints 8th October 2016 With the final Sprint event completed with a minimum of two needed and the best two rounds being counted the final results are:
Lakeside raceway turned on a very warm day for our last sprint outing of the year. Even though it was Bathurst Weekend (my bad) we had 11 sprinters turn out for the final event of the year. Points and Final Placing Unfortunately, Mike Chapman and Maurice Terpening who share the drive in their VK track car Luke Schuster 0 01st broke a gearbox on the last run of practice before our event and had to withdraw. That left us with Rob Droder 2 2nd 9. We had a couple of new comers Michael Jubb from Motorama and Ben Davari. Bob Matsen 2 3rd A number of our regulars in Rob Droder, Bob Matsen and Alastair Mitchell were looking very hard Wes Dunlop 3 4th at their nominated times for the regularity as the final point score leading into the last round was very close. Luke Alastair Mitchell 5 5th Schuster had banked two good rounds (nil points) already so was the person to catch and he got Mike Chapman 6 6th a better offer to attend Bathurst so was not in attendance.
