Am 16. Juli erscheint eine Deluxe-Version des Albums, begleitet von Vinyl-, CD- und digitalen Versionen. Das Limited Edition Deluxe-Boxset FOREIGN AFFAIR (DELUXE EDITION) enthält auf CD1 das erstmals vollständig remasterte Originalalbum, CD2 hält eine Sammlung von B-Seiten, Remixen und ein bisher ungehörtes Demo des Tina Turner-Klassikers „The Best“ bereit. Auf CD3 und CD4 ist eine legendäre Live-Show zu hören, die Tina Turner 1990 in Barcelona spielte. Bei dem berauschenden Auftritt präsentierte Turner einige ihrer beliebtesten Tracks, darunter „What's Love Got To Do With It“, „Proud Mary“, „Private Dancer“ und viele mehr. Die elektrisierende Performance ist auch auf der DVD zu sehen, die abgerundet wird durch sechs Musikvideos der offiziellen Album-Singles, die vollständig in HD-Qualität restauriert wurden. Und das ist nicht alles, worauf sich Fans freuen können. Denn neben der großartigen Musik enthält die Deluxe- Edition einen speziellen Erinnerungs-Reisepass mit einer Reihe ikonischer Fotos von Turner sowie eine hochwertige Kunstkarte mit Fotos des Fotografen Paul Cox. Ebenfalls enthalten ist ein Booklet mit neuen Linernotes von Holly Knight, dem Songwriter von „The Best“, „Be Tender With Me Baby“, „You Can't Stop Me Loving You“ und „Ask Me How I Feel“. Exklusiv bei Dig! ist das Album auch auf weißem 2-LP-Vinyl verfügbar, auch hier erstmals komplett remastert. Im übrigen Handel wird das Album als schwarze 2-LP erhältlich sein, außerdem digital und als 2-CD, die neben dem remasterten Original-Album eine Sammlung von B-Seiten, Remixen sowie ein unveröffentlichtes Demo von „The Best“ enthält, das man sich schon heute anhören kann. „Foreign Affair“ war Turners drittes Studioalbum seit ihrer sensationellen weltweiten Wiederauferstehung und folgte auf die gewaltigen Erfolge von „Private Dancer“ (1984), „Break Every Rule“ (1986) und ihre Hauptrolle in „Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome“ im Jahr 1985.     Honour Killing in Sindh Men's and Women's Divergent Accounts Shahnaz Begum Laghari PhD University of York Women’s Studies March 2016 Abstract The aim of this project is to investigate the phenomenon of honour-related violence, the most extreme form of which is honour killing. The research was conducted in Sindh (one of the four provinces of Pakistan). The main research question is, ‘Are these killings for honour?’ This study was inspired by a need to investigate whether the practice of honour killing in Sindh is still guided by the norm of honour or whether other elements have come to the fore. It is comprised of the experiences of those involved in honour killings through informal, semi- structured, open-ended, in-depth interviews, conducted under the framework of the qualitative method. The aim of my thesis is to apply a feminist perspective in interpreting the data to explore the tradition of honour killing and to let the versions of the affected people be heard. In my research, the women who are accused as karis, having very little redress, are uncertain about their lives; they speak and reveal the motives behind the allegations and killings in the name of honour. The male killers, whom I met inside and outside the jails, justify their act of killing in the name of honour, culture, tradition and religion. Drawing upon interviews with thirteen women and thirteen men, I explore and interpret the data to reveal their childhood, educational, financial and social conditions and the impacts of these on their lives, thoughts and actions.

OBITUARY Rupert Hine obituary British folk musician turned record producer who masterminded Tina Turner’s triumphant comeback album Private Dancer Monday August 10 2020, 12.01am, The Times Rupert Hine in the recording studio in 1973. He went on to pioneer digital production with synth-pop acts in the 1980s FIN COSTELLO/REDFERNS Share Save When Rupert Hine was producing the album that resurrected Tina Turner’s career, he made the mistake of asking her to do a second take. It was the first time he had worked with her and they were recording Turner’s 1984 comeback album Private Dancer, for which Hine had written the opening song I Might Have Been Queen. She had taken his demo and rehearsed the song at home until she felt she had mastered it. “Then she would call you up and say, ‘I’m ready’,” Hine recounted. “I would pick her up from her house and drive her to the studio. She would jump out, run to the nearest microphone and let it out.” He soon realised his mistake in asking for two takes as a matter of course. “The one take was just extraordinary — word, tone and beat perfect.” When they began working together she had been living on food stamps after her divorce from her abusive husband, Ike Turner. Private Dancer went on to sell more than 20 million copies and top charts around the world. Hine also worked on Turner’s next two bestselling albums Break Every Rule and Foreign Aair but never felt the need again to demand a retake after her “nerve- tingling” one-shot performances.

Ike Turner doet, weer eens op vrije voeten, in juli '95 Nederland aan voor een plichtmatig optreden met een complete revue, inclusief surrogaat-Tina en nep-Ikettes. Datzelfde jaar staat Tina als eerste pop-act in de Amsterdam ArenA. Meer dan In '99 kondigen La Turner en Elton John aan samen op tournee te gaan, maar tijdens de eerste repetities krijgen de beide sterren ruzie en wordt de onderneming afgeblazen.

    Recensie: Tina Turner****1/2 Sportpaleis Merksem donderdag 22 januari 2009 foto © Concertnieuws Recensie: Vernieuwend en indrukwekkend is de ganse show van Tina Turner. 5 Keer doet ze het Sportpaleis in Merksem aan. Ondertussen heeft de kranige 60er al 4 van haar Belgische concerten erop zitten. Op 30 april komt ze nog eens. De ticketverkoop ging ontzettend had vorig jaar. 5 Uitverkochte concerten zijn een knap resultaat en dat terwijl Turner de laatste jaren nauwelijks nieuwe nummers heeft uitgebracht. Hoeveel lokale kopieën van Turner moeten er niet op deze wereldbol rondlopen vraag ik me soms af. Onze eigenste Natalia wordt wel eens de Vlaamse Turner genoemd. Wel, we hebben haar al heel wat soloconcerten zien geven. Conclusie: in vergelijking met Turner is ze klein bier. De promoboys en-girls samen met enkele collega journalisten verzoeken we dan ook vriendelijk elke vergelijking vanaf nu te staken. Hoge veiligheidsvoorschriften in het Sportpaleis. Een zittend middenplein, voor de eerste rijen werd een rood lint gespannen. Het soort lint dat je op luchthavens vindt. Daarachter stond of zat en leger veiligheidsmensen. Ook in de zaal zelf zaten er een aantal of wandelden die rond. Zelfs rond de volgspotters op het balkon stond steevast veiligheidspersoneel. Op de tram hoorde ik enkele West-Vlamingen mopperen en zich vragen stellen waarom de dopjes van de flesjes water werden gedaan. Ook dat was een veiligheidsmaatregel. Bij Livenation die Rock Werchter organiseren, zijn ze de editie van 1991 nog lang niet vergeten. Toen vroeg Iggy Pop aan het publiek om met de plastiek flessen te smijten.
