New Hall East and New Center West have been approved by Winona's building inspector, with the exception of some finishing touches. "There are some punch list items they're still working on but for all intents and purposes the building is done," said Winona State Housing and Residence Life Director Paula Scheevel. Not yet officially named, Winona State is working with those who have donated to the residence halls so permanent namesakes can be bestowed, said Scheevel. Though not labeled with the most enticing monikers, the new halls boast contemporary construction and interior design. Roughly 126,000 square feet, the new halls have the capacity Brad Farrell/Winonan to house 408 students. Subjugation IV
Subjugation 4 Tribulation by Fel (aka James Galloway) ToC 1 To: Title ToC 2 Chapter 1 Koira, 18 Toraa, 4401, Orthodox Calendar Wednesday, 28 January 2014, Terran Standard Calendar Koira, 18 Toraa, year 1327 of the 97th Generation, Karinne Historical Reference Calendar Foxwood East, Karsa, Karis Amber was starting to make a nuisance of herself. There was just something intrinsically, fundamentally wrong about an insufferably cute animal that was smart enough to know that it was insufferably cute, and therefore exploited that insufferable cuteness with almost ruthless impunity. In the 18 days since she’d arrived in their house, she’d quickly learned that she could do virtually anything and get away with it, because she was, quite literally, too cute to punish. Fortunately, thus far she had yet to attempt anything truly criminal, but that didn’t mean that she didn’t abuse her cuteness. One of the ways she was abusing it was just what she was doing now, licking his ear when he was trying to sleep. Her tiny little tongue was surprisingly hot, and it startled him awake. “Amber!” he grunted incoherently. “I’m trying to sleep!” She gave one of her little squeaking yips, not quite a bark but somewhat similar to it, and jumped up onto his shoulder. She didn’t even weigh three pounds, she was so small, but her little claws were like needles as they kneaded into his shoulder. He groaned in frustration and swatted lightly in her general direction, but the little bundle of fur was not impressed by his attempts to shoo her away. -

An understanding of the core principles of cross-over songs and their relevance in contemporary culture is essential for Christian songwriters. Six albums marked by spiritual overtones or undertones, representing a broad spectrum of contemporary cross-over music, were examined. Selected songs were critiqued by analyzing the album of origin, lyrical content, author’s expressed worldview, and level of commercial success. Renaissance art also provided a historical parallel to modern day songwriting. Recommendations were developed for Christian songwriters to craft songs with greater effectiveness to impact the culture while adhering to a biblical worldview. CHRISTIAN CROSS-OVER SONGWRITING 4 A Survey of Christian Cross-Over Songwriting An exploration of Christian cross-over music can provide an objective framework for evaluating songs and developing guidelines for Christian songwriters so they can enhance their effectiveness in communicating with their audiences. -

New Orleans Nostalgia
NEW ORLEANS NOSTALGIA Remembering New Orleans History, Culture and Traditions By Ned Hémard True Bohemian Rhapsody The true “Bohemian Rhapsody” is neither “Caprice Bohémien” by Rachmaninoff, nor is it the 1975 hit by the rock group Queen. Freddie Mercury and Queen provided the world with its extremely popular (yet intensely cryptic) “Bohemian Rhapsody”, a stream-of-consciousness nightmare of a song that offered lyrics like: “I see a little silhouetto of a man, Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango?” Research indicates that “Bohemian Rhapsody” is the second most played song on British radio and jukeboxes, and in clubs collectively, after “A Whiter Shade of Pale” by Procol Harum. Could it be because both songs incorporate the word “fandango” into their lyrics? But is there a song more truly worthy of the title “Bohemian Rhapsody”, especially in a place that has been called America’s most Bohemian city? And how was it that Carnegie Mellon University professor Richard Florida (author of “The Rise of the Creative Class”) gave New Orleans a fairly low standing in his “Bohemian Index”? How could it be that the Crescent City (with its French Quarter, musicians, writers, artists, eccentric characters, jazz and funky vibe) ranked below Salt Lake City? And why the beaucoup boo hoos over such a low boho rating (41st out of the 49 largest metro areas)? These questions will soon be answered. Bohemians refer, of course, to the inhabitants of the former Kingdom of Bohemia, located in the modern day Czech Republic. Their leader back in the day was “Good King Wenceslas”, Duke of Bohemia, who cruised around Prague in the early tenth century.
