NWFB Route 2, 18 and 18P Service Reorganisation Route 23B Routeing Alteration NWFB Route 2, 18 and 18P Service Reorganisation Route 23B Routeing Alteration （ 4 May 2015, Hong Kong ） Corresponding to MTR Island Line extension to Western District, effective 10 May (Sunday), New World First Bus (“NWFB”) Route 2, 18 and 18P will be reorganised while the routeing of Route 23B will be altered. Details are as follows: Route 18 Service hours and routeing of Route 18 will be adjusted. It provides unidirectional service during peak hours limited on every Monday to Friday (except public holiday). There are 6 morning peak departures from North Point (Healthy Street Central) operating at 7:45am, 8:00am, 8:15am, 8:30am, 8:45am and 9:00am. It runs via the original routeing to Harbour Road and then diverts to Connaught Road Central before terminating at Connaught Road Central near Wing Wo Street, Sheung Wan. Besides, there are 3 evening peak departures to North Point from Des Voeux Road Central near Rumsey Street, Sheung Wan operating at 6:10pm, 6:25pm and 6:40pm. It runs via Des Voeux Road Central, Connaught Road Central and Harcourt Road, diverts via Gloucester Road and then resumes its original routeing to North Point. Route 18P In conjunction with the service alteration in Route 18, North Point bound service of Route 18P will terminate at North Point (Healthy Street Central) for whole day departures. The service hours of both bounds will be lengthened with routeing adjustment. Departures from Kennedy Town (Belcher Bay) divert via Centre Street, Connaught Road West, Eastern Street, Connaught Road West in Western District while omitting Gordon Road, Electric Road, Java road and North Point Ferry Pier and diverting via Wing Hing Street and King’s Road in Causeway Bay and Tin Hau. Service hours are 6:00am to 11:00pm daily. The routeing of Kennedy Town bound service remains unchanged and the service hours are 5:30am to 0:00am daily. Bus-Bus Interchange (“BBI”) concession between Route 18/18P and Citybus Route 1 and 5B will be introduced. Passengers using the same Octopus can enjoy a free interchange at the bus stop on Des Voeux Road Central outside The Landmark to travel to Western District. Route 2 In conjunction with the service alteration in Route 18, the service of Route 2 during off-peak hours will be enhanced to 15 minutes headway on Monday to Friday. Route 23B Departures from Braemar Hill run via the original routeing to Lai Tak Tsuen, Leighton Road, divert via Hennessy Road to Queensway while omitting Queen’s Road East, and then follow the original routeing to Robinson Road. Braemar Hill bound service remains unchanged. Footbridges and subways: Footbridges, subways and elevated walkways are the safest places to cross busy roads as they keep pedestrians well away from the dangers of traffic.

Effective 16 November (Sunday), NWFB will enhance the service of Route 792M, while service of Citybus Route 698R will be cancelled. Details are so follows: NWFB Route 792M Effective 16 November (Sunday), Tseung Kwan O bound service of NWFB Route 792M during 3:45pm to 5:45pm on Sunday and Public Holiday will be strengthened to 15 minutes headway, while the frequency at other service periods will remain unchanged. NWFB Route 796X Effective 9 November (Sunday), all departures to and from Lohas Park of NWFB Route 796X will operate via Le Prestige. New bus stops will be located at Wan Po Road before Shek Kok Road, outside Le Prestige and outside Tseung Kwan O MTR Depot for both bounds. Meanwhile, the routeing of departures during morning peak hour on Monday to Saturday operating between Tsim Sha Tsui (East) and Tseung Kwan O Station will remain unchanged.     2020 Book News Welcome to our 2020 Book News. It’s hard to believe another year has gone by already and what a challenging year it’s been on many fronts. We finally got the Hallmark book launched at Showbus. The Red & White volume is now out on final proof and we hope to have copies available in time for Santa to drop under your tree this Christmas. Sorry this has taken so long but there have been many hurdles to overcome and it’s been a much bigger project than we had anticipated. Several other long term projects that have been stuck behind Red & White are now close to release and you’ll see details of these on the next couple of pages. Whilst mentioning bigger projects and hurdles to overcome, thank you to everyone who has supported my latest charity fund raiser in aid of the Christie Hospital. Chim Submission Date: 20th January, 2019 Utilising Smartphone Application Data Progress Report 2 Abstract Waiting for buses have become easier with bus companies introducing their own smartphone applications (apps) for passengers to check when do the buses arrive. However, apps from different companies do not read each other’s data so that passengers have to open two or more apps for checking bus arrival times. That could lead to undesired results such as missing a bus when opening another app to check arrival time. This paper describes the early research stage of a tool that integrates bus arrival time data from different bus companies. The goal of the tool is to retrieve arrival time data from different servers and show them to user in an all-in-one manner. In the current stage, it is now possible to retrieve data from Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB)’s server without using the company’s app, by directly communicating with the server using APIs. The logic of retrieving ETA from New World First Bus and Citybus is also found. Next step is to discover a working method to directly retrieve NWFB/Citybus’s bus arrival times.     NWFB Route 106P Service Enhancement （15 January 2014, Hong Kong ） Effective 20 January (Monday), New World First Bus (“NWFB”) will introduce Hong Kong Island bound service for Route 106P in the evening peak hour at 5:15pm and 5:35pm on Monday to Friday (except Public Holiday). The service begins from Wong Tai Sin and follows the routeing of Route 106 until Cross Harbour Tunnel, then observes Victoria Park Road, Gordon Road, Electric Road, Java Road, Island Eastern Corridor, Chai Wan Road, Siu Sai Wan Road, Fu Yee Road and Siu Sai Wan Road, terminating at Island Resort Bus Terminus.     Task Force on Harbourfront Developments on Hong Kong Island _____________________________________________________________________ For discussion TFHK/01/2012 on 12 January 2012 Proposal to Build a New Centre By Hong Kong Architecture Centre PURPOSE The purpose of this paper is to seek Members’ views on the proposal by Hong Kong Architecture Centre (HKAC) to build their new centre at the junction of Connaught Road Central, Rumsey Street and Tak Man Street in Sheung Wan. The proposed site was an existing traffic island under a flyover. BACKGROUND 2. HKAC is a non-profit making institution that aims to bring architecture to the public by architectural education and appreciation, and promote conservation of environment, heritage and culture. Since its establishment in 2006, HKAC has run talks, classes, workshops, exhibitions, tours and other activities for the public and visitors to Hong Kong. 3. In search of a new centre location, HKAC was asked to explore innovative uses of left-over urban space instead of more conventional heritage buildings. HKAC found a sizable vacant traffic island in Sheung Wan that can be potentially linked to Central, Sheung Wan MTR Station at Vicwood Plaza, Macau Ferry Terminal at Shun Tak Centre and Rumsey Street Carpark via the elevated walkway system. 4. Despite of various technical constraints, such as traffic sightline, access for structure and service maintenance, HKAC has found an interesting solution. A round building is proposed to provide venue for their activities and house their administration and archive while its rooftop will be integrated with the existing footbridges to create an elevated plaza for events and their outlets where public can access easily their services and be engaged in their activities (Please refer to Appendix).
