This course presents ice rescue training in a practical and efficient system, giving trainers the tools to build a competent and safe team. Successful Ice Rescue Trainer graduates will return to their departments with a complete training system. With the purchase of student kits from Dive Rescue International, trainers will be able to conduct in-house ice rescue training for departmental personnel. This is a surface rescue program and does not involve diving. Prerequisites Students must be a member of a public safety agency and at least 21 years of age, current First Aid and CPR training and must provide a departmental sponsorship letter. This program is designed for personnel who are physically fit. Participants are encouraged to participate after successfully completing the IADRS Watermanship Test or testing to a fitness level of 13 MET (Metabolic Equivalents) or greater. Participants with aerobic fitness questions or concerns should consult their physician prior to in- water training. This program requires a completed application. Be Sure to Bring All students will need a U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD) with a knife and whistle, adequate clothing for working outside, and pen and paper for taking notes. If the student has access to a cold water rescue suit or dry suit, they should bring it to class. It is advised that students bring a dry set of clothing. Ice Diving Operations As winter sports become more popular, operational search and rescue/recovery dives beneath the ice are becoming more common for public safety dive teams. During this outstanding three day program, you will learn how proper equipment and training can ensure safe and effective ice diving operations. Ice Diving Operations is an intense 24-hour training program covering not only the techniques of diving beneath the ice, but the details necessary for proper planning of ice operations in both the rescue and recovery mode. This program allows students to participate in operational planning and gives them the opportunity to make multiple dives below the ice. Prerequisites Students must be a member of a public safety agency and at least 18 years of age. Diving personnel must provide proof Dive Rescue I certification. All students must complete an RSTC medical form. Any diver answering yes to a contraindication is required to have a physician sign page 2 of the form. Please make sure to present your RSTC Medical Statement to your instructor at the beginning of class. Be Sure to Bring All students must bring: US Coast Guard approved P. F. D. with knife and whistle, adequate clothing and protection from the environment, pen, and paper for note-taking and sketching. All diving students must bring: dry suit or adequate wet suit, scuba regulator or full face mask: recently serviced and environmentally protected with alternate air source (i.e.: octopus, Air II, etc.), timing device, depth and submersible pressure gauges, BC with oral and power inflator, two tanks with current hydro and visual inspection, mask, snorkel, fins, weight belt and two cutting tools (knife, wire cutters, or trauma shears). All equipment that will be worn while ice diving should be worn at the pool session on the first day of class. Dry Suit Repair Students in this class will discuss how to maintain and repair minor tears, punctures, and holes in vulcanized rubber and trilaminate dry suits. There will be a demonstration of wrist ring, cuff seal, neck seal, and hood installation. Leak testing procedures will also be addressed. Glue and patch materials will be provided for training use during the class. Students are encouraged to bring their own dry suits to class for repair and testing. Each student should bring a Dremel-type moto tool with a Dremel # 952 tapered grinding stone. www.DiveRescueIntl.com (800) 248-3483 [email protected] Greeley, CO ~ Training Series Interspiro Technician The technicians who complete this training program will be certified by Interspiro to perform annual service and field maintenance on their Divator MK II full face masks. This course is designed to give you the tools to repair, maintain, and complete annual service on your department's Interspiro Divator MK II (AGA) full face masks. With this training, your department could not only save on the cost of repairs but also reduce the amount of downtime for your mask. Prerequisites All students must be 18 years of age. Be Sure to Bring Interspiro MK II Mask, 1st stage regulator (and tank if possible). An Interspiro Mini Test Kit will be needed to test your department's masks. We also recommend our Annual Service Kit and Hatch Repair Kit. Med Dive This is an in-depth study of preventative and on-site emergency care for injured divers. This program is a must for any team interested in optimizing member safety. Skills learned can be used by non-medical personnel as well as the most experienced responder. The program is recommended for all emergency medical professionals, rescue and dive team members. Course topics include: Medical evaluations of divers, Decompression physiology and bubble formation, Signs and symptoms of decompression sickness, Pulmonary barotrauma, Rapid field neurological exam, Field treatment of compressed gas injuries, Oxygen administration, Post-diving considerations, Integration of Med Dive Specialists into dive operations, Advanced treatment principles, and Monitoring of divers. *Entire program will be held in the classroom Prerequisites All students must be a member of a public safety agency or health care field, and be at least 18 years old. Students must bring verification of current First Aid and CPR. Be Sure to Bring Students must bring a pen, pencil, notebook and proof of CPR and First Aid training. Visual Cylinder Inspection This certification course teaches the basics of conducting annual visual inspections of solid wall and composite SCUBA and SCBA cylinders. The 6 - 8 hour course is suited for those new to visual inspection as well as those who have been inspecting without formal training. Subjects include damage limits, neck cracking, laws affecting inspectors, and HM220F updates. This course meets the OSHA and DOT requirements for employee HAZMAT training. Previously certified inspectors may attend this full course under the VCIR for re-qualification. The course is open to anyone 16 years or older, however participants must be 18 to receive certification. No previous cylinder inspection experience is required. Course includes manual, hand outs and Visual Cylinder Inspection certification from PSI. Water Operations Officer Development The scope of this course is to prepare emergency managers and leaders to operate within the National Incident Management System (NIMS) at a water operation events. This course takes incident command principles and applies them to large and small scale water rescue scenes. Students participate in incident command scenarios and make risk management decisions. Through scenario execution and discussion, students prepare for incidents of various magnitudes where the local NIMS-based ICS may transition to Unified Command. This course is ideal for Dive and Non-Dive Officers and Managers responsible for all types of water operations.
