CONFERENCE CHAIR Ivan is a former government minister and businessman; today Ivan is a professional broadcaster and communicator. Elected as a youngest councillor, Dail Deputy and cabinet minister; despite having no background in politics, he was a Wexford TD for more than 20 years, serving on the front bench in different portfolios of Finance, Health, Environment and Transport. His term as Minister for Agriculture Food and Forestry, during 1994-97, included the BSE crisis and EU presidency.

Ivan re-invented himself with a media career at Newstalk and TV3, as well as columnist with multiple national and regional IVAN YATES publications. His knowledge and experience of public Broadcaster, Entrepreneur & Former administration and private business also led to him being Politician appointed as non- executive director and chairman to various company boards. GUEST SPEAKERS Joan Burton is the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection, and Leader of the Labour Party. Her focus as Minister is on transforming the system of social protection to help unemployed people back to work, education or training while ensuring a strong and responsive safety net for those who need it.

A chartered accountant by profession, she was first elected to the Dáil in 1992, and served as Minister of State at the Department of Social Welfare from 1993 to 1994, during which she initiated a series of welfare to work and education initiatives. She served as Minister for Development Cooperation and Overseas Aid from 1994 to 1997, in which time she revamped Ireland’s development programme in Africa. She was the Labour JOAN BURTON Party’s spokesperson on Finance from 2002 to 2011, and Tánaiste and Minister for Social opposed the bank guarantee in 2008. She was appointed Protection Minister for Social Protection in March 2011, and nominated Tánaiste in July 2014. Jim is the current Dublin Senior Football Manager. He was appointed on October 2012. His track record is as follows: Former: Manager Dublin Under 21 Football team for 5 seasons (2008 – 2012) Coach of Dublin Under 21 Football team for 1 season (2003). Player on Dublin Senior Dublin Football Team from 1993 to 2002. Has won 21 trophies representing Dublin, as a player, coach or manager: 5 All-Irelands, 3 National Football Leagues, 11 Leinster titles, 2 O’Byrne Cups.

Profession: JIM GAVIN A qualified commercial pilot working in the Safety Regulation Dublin Football Manager Division of the Irish Aviation Authority. Vice President Asset Management for Hilton Worldwide since September 2009. Key areas of responsibility include the owned, leased and JV portfolio across the UK, Ireland and Germany.James brings over 18 years of hotel operations and corporate management experience to his role.

Prior to joining Hilton Worldwide he held senior operational roles with Sheraton, Meridien and several private hotel companies in Africa, the Middle East and the US. James has a Degree in

Miriam began her professional career with Beacon Conference and Incentive as part of an IBEC graduate placement programme. In 2004, Beacon Conference & Incentive merged with Drury Sports Management to become Platinum One. Miriam worked her way up through the company becoming Head of sales in 2005 and was appointed as Events Director in 2006 at the age of 28.

She left Platinum One in 2008 to travel the world and on her return accepted a job as Dublin Convention Bureau Manager in January 2009. In 2013, Miriam moved from Dublin Convention to manage the newly formed Event Ireland department (also MIRIAM KENNEDY within Fáilte Ireland) where she developed and launched a new Head of Business Tourism & Events, strategy for attracting international events of scale. In November Failte Ireland 2014, Miriam was appointed Head of Business Tourism and Events in Fáilte Ireland where she is responsible for overseeing Dublin Convention Bureau, Event Ireland and the Business Tourism Unit.

LESSONS FROM LEADERS Una was appointed Chair of the EGFSN (Expert Group on Future Skills Needs), by the then Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment in 2009. She has been a member of the Group since 1999. She is on the Advisory Board of the DCU Ryan Academy and a member of the Governing Authority of NUI Maynooth.

She also participates in a number of focus groups in ICT Ireland and IBEC. She is a former Chair of the Fulbright Commission. She was employed by HP for 15 years as the Government UNA HALLIGAN Affairs Director. Chairperson, Expert Group on Future

Skills Needs (EGFSN) Frank Gleeson joined Aramark as Managing Director of Food Services in 2013. A member of the advisory board of Aramark Ireland and a member of ELC (Executive Leadership Council) of Aramark Corp., Philadelphia, USA, Frank joined Aramark from Topaz Energy Group where he was Retail Director.

In Topaz Frank was responsible for the management of the company’s 330 Company operated and Dealer owned service stations in Ireland. Prior to joining Topaz, Frank was Vice President Retail of Statoil Ireland, Operations Director of FRANK GLEESON O’Brien’s Off Licence Group and Group Sales Manager for MD, Aramark Food Services Xtravision plc.

As Managing Director for Aramark, Frank is responsible for over 3,000 employees across 400 Food Services locations on the island of Ireland. Aramark Food Services provides 250,000 meals daily and spends €60m per annum supporting local suppliers. Paul Gallagher FIHI is the general manager of Buswells Hotel. Paul is the incoming chairman of Irish Tourism Industry Confederation (ITIC) having served as its Vice Chairman and council member over the past 3 years. He is also Past President of the Irish Hotels Federation serving a two year term 2010 and 2011. He was a member of the Tourism Recover Taskforce and the Grow Dublin Taskforce as well as serving on the Governments Small Business Advisory Group.

Mr Gallagher is a native of Dublin and a graduate of the

PAUL GALLAGHER Shannon College of Hotel Management. He has previously GM Buswells Hotel & incoming Chair worked in senior management positions in the hotel sector ITIC having been General Manager of the Herbert Park Hotel, Ballsbridge; Silver Spring Hotel. Cork, Blooms Hotel, Dublin and the Memphis Hotel, Amsterdam.

A native of Clare and a graduate of the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, with a BA in Hotel and Catering Management, he is owner manager of Vaughan Lodge, a four star hotel property, Lahinch Co. Clare which he runs with his wife Maria. Michael has worked in senior management positions in the hotel sector having previously held the position of Group Sales Manager – Travel Trade with Jurys Hotel Group. During his career, he has provided consultancy services to many hotel and tourism enterprises including Shannon Airport Authority.

Michael has been an active member of the IHF for many years. MICHAEL VAUGHAN He has served as both President and branch chair of the IHF Manager Vaughan’s Lodge Shannon branch of the organisation. He has also served as a member of a number of its executive committees PALLAS FOOD LUNCH FEATURES Olympic Gold Medallist and Boxer Katie Taylor was born in 1986 and joins us as Aramark’s Right Track Health and Wellness Ambassador.

At the tender age of 28, Katie is the current Irish, European, World and Olympic Champion in the 60 kg division. Katie is credited with raising the profile of women's boxing at home and abroad. Most recently she became 5 time reigning European champion.

Regarded as the outstanding Irish athlete of her generation, she was the flag bearer for Ireland at the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony in London, later boxing her way to an KATIE TAYLOR Olympic gold medal in the lightweight division. Katie Taylor was Boxer &Olympic Gold Medallist named Sportsperson of the Year at the 2012 People of the Year Awards in September 2012.

This year Katie and Alan Quinlan have joined forces with Aramark to promote the Right Track Challenge, a targeted health and wellbeing programme for those in workplaces across the country. As a role model for dedication to her sport, fitness and wellbeing, we are delighted to have Katie here with us today.
