Qualification Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Construction Engineering and Management 建造工程及管理(榮譽)工學士 Qualification Type Bachelor Degree QF Level Level 5 Credits 135 Subject Area Engineering and Technology Programme Objectives The programme aims to provide quality education and training in construction engineering and construction management for professional practices with the following emphases:

- To educate students to become professional construction personnel for building and managing building and infrastructure projects, supporting and enhancing economic developments and creating a better quality of life. - To contribute to the developments and maintenance of building and infrastructural facilities and systems, especially in the local and neighbouring regions. - To develop students’ construction-related problem-solving skills using the latest technologies. - To equip students with knowledge of sustainable developments for the improvement of the living environment and the preservation of the natural environment. - To understand ethical issues associated with their profession, and be able to apply their acquired knowledge and skills to the betterment of society. - To equip students with sound skills in construction technology and management, enabling them to better meet the needs of the society and gain more flexibility in their choice of career. - To prepare graduates for future professional career developments or pursuing their postgraduate studies in the fields of engineering and management

Programme Intended 1. Acquire knowledge in mathematics and science for applying to construction Learning Outcomes engineering and management practices. 2. Analyze and interpret data relevant to construction engineering and management disciplines. 3. Design a system or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints, such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability and sustainability. 4. Function on multidisciplinary teams. 5. Identify, formulate and solve construction engineering and management problems. 6. Understand the importance of professional and ethical responsibilities.. 7. Communicate and present ideas effectively, including technical writing, oral and presentation skills. 8. Understand the impact of construction engineering and management solutions in a global and societal context, especially the importance of health, safety and environmental considerations. 9. Stay abreast of contemporary issues, and aware of the construction engineering impacts. 10. Recognize the need for, and to engage in life-long learning. 11. Use the techniques, skills, and modern tools necessary for the construction engineering and management practices. 12. Use the computer/IT tools relevant to the construction engineering and management disciplines along with an understanding of their processes and limitations.

Graduate Profile Specific in work at: government, consultants, contractors and developers. Job responsibilities and opportunities include: - Responsible for and engaging in construction and maintenance, project management and engineering design, such as construction of infrastructures and buildings, maintenance works, contractual management, financial management, quality management, health and safety management, environmental management, quantity surveying, analysis and design of structures and temporary works, analysis and design of building services systems and research in construction technologies. - Coordination and facilitation of communication among different professionals in construction industry. - Knowledgeable of construction technologies and applications in the workplace. - Good ability of written and oral communication of knowledge. - Problem solving skills are essential. - Hardworking and willing to work under pressure. - Teamwork but able to work independently and work abroad. - Adapting to new situations, and working in multidisciplinary and international teams Education Pathways Graduates of the programme will be eligible to further their studies in various graduate schools of the local and oversea in the areas of construction engineering, engineering and construction management, building services engineering, civil engineering and environmental engineering. Employment Pathways Graduates could obtain employment in the following posts: - Management trainee - Graduate - Assistant engineer; assistant project engineer; assistant site engineer - Assistant surveyor Entry Requirements Candidates who wish to apply for admission to this Programme should possess one of the following:  Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language, AND Level 2 or above in Mathematics and Liberal Studies, AND Level 2 or above in one elective subject in HKDSE.  Five passes or Level 2 in HKCEE including Chinese Language and English Language. AND passes in HKALE Use of English, Chinese Language and Culture, AND one AL subject or two AS subjects.  An accredited or from local educational institutions.  Be a mature applicant of at least 23 years of age.  Be an overseas applicant with relevant academic qualifications (admitted on a case-by-case basis).
