HEAVY METAL 1. History

 Heavy metal was created around 1970s, it started in The United Kingdom, and it expanded all around the world.  It descends from the rock music, blues rock and acid rock.  At the first time there was only Heavy Metal, but other subgenres appeared quickly.  The origin of the term "heavy metal" has been attributed to the phrase "heavy metal thunder," used in the Steppenwolf hit of 1968, "Born to Be Wild."  Another possibility is when the term appeared earlier in William Burroughs' novel Nova Express (1964). 2.Main Characteristics

 Heavy metal is typically characterized by a distorted electric guitar is supported by the electric bass, powerful drumming, an often high and piercing vocal style, and sometimes electric organs or other keyboards.  Certain genres have some quiet and mellow parts, but most metal is loud, intense, fast and aggressive.  The main organization in the Heavy Metal bands was, one bass player, two guitar players, one vocalist and one drummer.  The heavy metal and the classical music is related First Bands

 There are a lot of sub-genres but the most important ones are:  Thrash metal  Death metal  Black metal  Gothic metal

 The other Sub-genres were: Alternative Metal, Avant-Garde Metal, Black Metal, Christian Metal, Doom Metal, Folk Music, Funk Metal, Glam Metal, Grindcore, Groove Metal, Industrial Metal, Melodic Death Metal, Metalcore, Nu Metal, Post Metal, Power Metal, Progressive Metal, Sludge Metal, Speed Metal, Stoner Rock, Symphonic Metal, Viking Metal and Gothic Metal.  This is a great expression of different opinions and taste of the people, because in the same genre there are big differences.  Is another subgenre of the Heavy Metal.  It typically employs heavily distorted guitars, deep growling vocals, blast beat drumming, and complex song structures with multiple tempo changes.  It’s builded from the Thrash Metal and early Black Metal.  In this subgenre of the heavy metal we can see the union of the Doom Metal with the Gothic Rock features.  The pioneers of the Gothic Metal were: Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride and Anathema, all from the north of England and Type O Negative from the United States.  Lyrics are usually dark and introspective thoughts.
