color integrating sphere Diffuse illumination is vital for the natural, artifact-free optical reduction of the effects of dirt and scratches. The film is illuminated by a diffused light that comes from the color-integrating sphere located just above the film. Not only does it have a very strong effect on the reduction of film grain, especially important with 16mm, but this technique is also extremely effective in reducing discolored sports and scratches with results bearing a close resemblance to those achieved with wet gates, yet without using chemicals.

illumination adjustment CTM DEBRIE telecinemas also provide the possibility for the user to adjust the illumination level (or exposure) relative to the density of the film with precise optical matching for the type of film being used. This process, again very simple, is close to the natural photographic process of optical film printing and therefore delivers more filmic, natural results.

calibration color control Though conceptually simple, the system offers two major benefits by varying the brightness and color of lights illuminating the film: Laboratory compatibility with color correction values in printer points. Now the DP knows how the film was exposed in internationally compatible units. Improved image quality, unlike most color analysers that degrade the picture as the negative gets darker, CTM DEBRIE telecinemas maintain constant signal to noise regardless of negative exposure.

color correction CTM DEBRIE telecinemas are provided with a standard primary Color corrector (RGB) which offers extensive range and latitude combined with precise digital control. This correction is real time. There are applications in which the basic primary functionality needs to be enhanced with basic secondary color control. See KAMELEON (page 42)

simple exchange of formats Changing from one format to another requires less than one minute. An operator can do so by changing the gate assembly, and selecting the format on the front panel.

Color correction for Dixi & Harmony

This option is a cost-efficient solution designed to be used with DIXI or HARMONY. Just as the Primary color correction system, this secondary color corrector is also real-time, and works with the full film.

The basic secondary color processor complements the primary color corrector already supplied with DIXI and HARMONY and vastly increases the functionality and flexibility of the basic Telecine system. Saturation and hue levels can be changed across a wide spectrum for selected colors. Creative latitude is increased by the vast possibilities of adjustment of position and width of each sector thus allowing further refined color levels. A master saturation control is also provided. Visuel: capture écran “Secondary color correction “ et “Tonal range change” (idem catalogue P30)

KAMELON consists of one rack with an independent processor and multiple cards. A custom- tailored control panel is highly recommended. This option is available for any DIXI or HARMONY previously delivered. It will make your work flow smoothly and efficiently. The adjustable and comfortable trackballs, as well as the programmable controls surrounding them, facilitate optimal working conditions for color correction. Visuel: télécommande KAMELEON range KAMELEON Module 1 – Useful primarily for the transfer of videos for editing or achiving, this machine allows for primary corrections of type HLS on the three levels of luminance: shadow, midtones and highlights to be made. By the use of trackballs as remotes, this module accommodates the need to make corrections scene by scene.

KAMELEON Module 2 – Useful for touching up certain colors upon a given image while leaving the others unchanged. The machine allows for secondary corrections to be made simultaneously to an unlimited number of colors (which is the equivalent of an infinite number of vectors – to use the terminology of Da Vinci or Avid). A given color is modified in terms of hue and saturation to create a new ‘version’ of the original color. Upon completion of modifications, the parameters of this new version are applied to the entire image, replacing

the original color’s dimensions; there is no windows mode “power window” (to use Da Vinci’s Programmer > color correction software Didier CALLE terminology).

KAMELEON can not be installed on machines other than DIXI and HARMONY. It is not possible to place this machine on a stand alone system.

dual&hdcseries hdc video transfer The telecine adapter is an inexpensive way to transfer 16mm or 35mm prints series onto video instantly without releasing the films to outside agencies. It provides a workable print quality. It consists of a mono CCD ? inch video camera, a beam splitter to view image both in the screen and in the video monitor. Bi-phase output to interface either a VITC Time Code generator or a digital audio recorder. options pack 1 kit keycode reader – ten Consisting of a Keycode head and TEN software, this kit is used for auto- conforming a film’s work print against an EDL. The software accepts telecine log files and the editor’s EDL to create a Keycode edit list (KDL). See TEN (page 57 of this catalogue).

The pulling operation is automated by a computer that tells the editor where the cut points are. All the required takes are extracted flash-to-flash corresponding to the way they have been logged, labeled, and placed on a numbered rack. The computer uses the keycode to find the film that has to be extracted. The edit can then be fine-tuned after a full screening before finalizing to cut the original negative. general options OP 74 SRD sound revealed on screen OP 10 Table working lamp with dimmer OP 75 LTC playback track OP 11 Loose cover for editor OP 76 2 track symetrical input OP 15 Working hour counter OP 78 PTR D = 38,4 unit OP 20 Extension board right OP 79 PTR D = 76,2 unit OP 21 Extension board left OP 80 Multi unit counter OP 22 Motor driven rewinder OP 81 Additional Built-in electronic counter for picture hood OP 24 16 or 35 sound reader (finder) + preamp OP 82 Preset counter for M OP 25 16 / 35 sound reader (finder) + preamp OP 83 Preset counter for TR4 OP 32 Stereo amplifier OP 89 Adapter for mm format OP 36 kit 35 mm COMMOPT sound head (dye track cyan) OP 90 Adapter for super 16mm format OP 39 Supplementary preamps for 2 track head OP 91 Adapter for cinemascope format OP 40 Supplementary preamps for 3 track head OP 92 Optical device for 1.66 magnification (scope screen is necessary) OP 41 Supplementary preamps for 4 track head OP 93 Optical device for 1.85 magnification OP 42 Supplementary preamps for 6 track head (scope screen is necessary) OP 43 Twin track head 16mm + support OP 94 Film sprocket wheel for shrunk stock along OP 44 Three track head 35mm + support with sound sprocket OP 45 Four track head 35mm + support OP 95 16 mm reader head & fitting bracket OP 46 Six track head + support OP 96 35 mm keykode reader head & fitting bracket OP 47 16 mm Commag sound head OP 97 PC based keykode reading board OP 48 35 mm Commag sound head OP 100 TV camera adapter for 16mm including beam splitter, OP 49 35 mm Commag sound head for two plates editor audio output, video genlock + lens OP 50 16mm optical sound head (SEPOPT) + preamp OP 101 TV camera adapter for 35mm including beam splitter, audio output, video genlock + lens OP 51 35 mm optical sound head (SEPOPT) + preamp OP 103 TV camera adapter for combination 16/35mm picture OP 60 Manual handle on front panel including beam splitter, audio output, video genlock + lens OP 61 Adapter for band writing system on 16 or 35mm flatbed OP 104 1/3 Inch Video camera with Power Adapter OP 62 Adapter for band writing system on 16 / 35mm flatbed OP 108 Adapter for 16 - super 16 telecine OP 64 Take-up plate with A/B switch OP 109 Adapter for 35 - super 35 telecine OP 65 Independant motor with tension sense roller OP 118 16 or 35 electronic board to have 16-18-20-22-24 & 25 fps OP 66 Separate clutch for plate OP 119 16 / 35 electronic board to have 16-18-20-22-24 & 25 fps OP 67 16 mm or 35 mm motor controlled sound shift system OP 120 phase reversal rack (Neg./pos.) + electronic OP 69 16/35 mm motor controlled sound shift system masks for video transfer OP 70 16mm biphase pulse generator ( 10pt/fr) OP 121 17” video monitor OP 71 35mm biphase pulse generator ( 10pt/fr) OP 122 20” video monitor OP 72 Audio input OP 123 20” video monitor output/input SDI OP 73 Biphase input OP 124 LTC/VITC generator/inserter

film storage container Innovative film container completely re-designed to really meet your needs and the needs of the film itself for a longer and better preservation. Made from prime and inert polypropylene and designed specifically for long term storage and preservation.

With regard to the competition, these Film Storage Containers reflect a sharp understanding of the causes of the ageing and the deterioration of the film acetate or nitrate.

Film Storage Container are available in various size and colours, for 16mm (120m, 240m, 360m, 600m) and for 35mm (300m, 360m, 600m, 900m); also we can offer cores 16 and 35mm and stabilizers for transport. shrinkage gauge The shrinkage gauge was designed, based on an earlier system, especially for laboratories and film archives as well as for everybody handling shrunken film. This instrument allows for direct reading of the percentage of shrinkage with a digital gauge. Due to the well thought out design, measuring of the actual shrinkage with absolute accuracy is easy, even without prior experience in handling of archival films.

The shrinkage gauge is available for 16mm as well as 35mm film formats. A steel calibration gauge will be supplied with each instrument. Calibration is also very simple and does not require any prior knowledge.
