Results of GMYC, bPTP, and phylogenetic analyses were similar and suggested that species diversity in Iran is currently underestimated. At least four can- didate species, Capoeta sp4, Capoeta sp5, Capoeta sp6, and Capoeta sp7, are awaiting description. Capoeta capoeta comprises a species complex with distinct genetic line- ages. The divergence times of the three main Capoeta clades are estimated to have occurred around 15.6–12.4 Mya, consistent with a Mio- Pleistocene origin of the di- versity of Capoeta in Iran. The changes in Caspian Sea levels associated with climate fluctuations and geomorphological events such as the uplift of the Zagros and Alborz Mountains may account for the complex speciation patterns in Capoeta in Iran. -

OCCASIONAL PAPERS OF THE MUSEUM OF ZOOLOGY UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN ANN ARBOR.MICHIGAN THE CYPRINID DERMOSPHENOTIC AND THE SUBFAMILY RASBORINAE The Cyprinidac, the largest family of fishes, do not lend themselves readily to subfamily classification (Sagemehl, 1891; Regan, 1911 ; Ramaswami, 195513). Nevertheless, it is desirable to divide the family in some way, if only to facilitate investiga- tion. Since Gunther's (1868) basic review of the cyprinids the emphasis in classification has shifted from divisions that are rcadily differentiable to groupings intended to be more nearly phylogenetic. In the course of this change a subfamily classifica- tion has gradually been evolved. Among the most notable contributions to the development of present subfamily concepts are those of Berg (1912), Nikolsky (1954), and Banarescu (e-g. 1968a). The present paper is an attempt to clarify the nature and relationships of one cyprinid subfamily-the Rasborinae. (The group was termed Danioinae by Banarescu, 1968a. Nomen- claturally, Rasborina and Danionina were first used as "family group" names by Giinther; to my knowledge the first authors to include both Rasbora and Danio in a single subfamily with a name bascd on one of these genera were Weber and de Beaufort, 1916, who used Rasborinae.) In many cyprinids, as in most characins, the infraorbital bones form an interconnected series of laminar plates around the lower border of the eye, from the lacrimal in front to the dermo- sphenotic postcrodorsally. This series bears the infraorbital sensory canal, which is usually continued into the cranium above the dcrmosphenotic. The infraorbital chain of laminar plates is generally anchored in position relative to the skull anteriorly and 2 Gosline OCC. -

And this was suggested as one of the earliest records for fossil cyprinids. Unfortunately, this specimen is poorly preserved and reveals no more morphological information than its serrated last unbranched dorsal and anal fin rays. Recently, some new specimens were unearthed from the same locality, where C. maomingensis was discovered. In addition to the serrated dorsal and anal fin rays, these new materials also show that the pattern and shape of their pharyngeal teeth obviously differ from that of Cyprinus but resemble that of Procypris. However, its number of the branched dorsal fin rays and number of vertebrae are much less than that in Procypris. -

The analysis of constrained trees indicated that sequence data were not consistent with most previously proposed relationships. Inconsistency was largely attributable to Asian taxa, such as Xenocypris and Xenocyprioides. Glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.49; G6PD) is an important enzyme found in all mammal tissues, and produces NADPH in the metabolism. NADPH provides a reductive potential to maintain a balanced redox state within the cell. The aim of this study was to purify G6PD from Capoeta umbla kidney and determination of inhibition or activation effects of aluminium and mercury on enzyme activity. In this purpose, glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase was purified from Capoeta umbla kidney by using preparation of homogenate, ammonium sulphate precipitation and 2’,5’-ADP Sepharose 4B affinity chromatography. Molecular weight of the enzyme was determined on sodium dodecyl sulphate- polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and the purified enzyme showed a single band on the 3+ 2+ gel with a molecular weight of 75 kDa. Moreover, Ki constants of Al and Hg were found as 0.98 ± 0.084 and 0.57 ± 0.019 mM, respectively. -

Journal of Survey in Fisheries Sciences 4(1) 8-17 2017 Discrimination of Capoeta trutta (Heckel, 1843) and Capoeta umbla (Heckel, 1843) from scales by Geometric Morphometric Methods Çiçek T. 1; Kaya A.2; Bilici S.3*; Dörtbudak M.Y.4 Received: October 2016 Accepted: April 2017 Abstract In this study, a totally 103 (53♀♀, 50♂♂) C. trutta and 82 (67♀♀, 15♂♂) C. umbla samples from the Tigris River between Ilısı Dam and Cizre town were collected and ages of scales taken from front and upper section of line lateral of dorsal fins of fishes were determined and one scale from each fish sample photographed by an Olympus digital camera with Canon SX7 model binocular under the same conditions with 40X magnification and then six landmarks were taken by tpsDig. After GPA (General Procrustes Analysis) performed, ANOVA (Analysis of Variance), PCA (Principal Component Analysis), CVA (Canonical Variance Anlysis) and DFA (Discriminant Function Analysis) analysis were conducted by MorphoJ and PAST. In CV (Canonical Variance) Analysis, the permutation p-value of the mahalanobis and procrustes distance between the two species (p<.0001) shows that the difference is quite significant. As a result of the reclassification done by the analysis, we see that 79% of C. umbla and 77% of C. trutta are classified correctly.
