It is in the East Midlands and lies on the River Derwent. Derby’s current population is approximately 236,300. Derby is home to: . Derby Cathedral, built in the 16th century . The city is twinned with Osnabrück in Germany Page 4 of 33 Getting Around Derby is quite a small city and easy to walk around – it takes no more than 20 minutes to walk across the centre. There is also a range of public transport services you can use in and around Derby. Travelling by Bus Derby has a large bus station with a daily network of bus routes which service the whole city. This includes the national bus operator Arriva and local bus operator Trent Barton. The Traveline Enquiry Service is at 0871 200 22 33 and provides timetable information. It is open from 7.00am until 21.00pm. Travelling by Train Derby has a large train station near Derby city centre. The journey to London (St Pancras Station) takes up to 1 hour and 45 minutes and Nottingham is only 25 minutes away. The station has a car park with over 600 spaces and is open 24 hours. The Meteor Centre Key Information The Meteor Centre is located at the North of Derby on the A6. Buses run every 10 – 15 minutes on weekdays from 7.30am until 18.00pm. It is located at postcode DE21 4SY. Pride Park Key Information Pride Park is located to the east of Derby near the A52. Buses run every 10 -15 minutes from Monday to Saturday, 7.00am until 19.00pm. The service doesn’t operate on football match days. It is located at postcode DE24 8AN.
