Introduction/welcoming The Cluster lead opened and welcomed all members of the cluster meeting started with the formal introduction of the representatives and appreciated partners for their actively participation in the Monthly WASH cluster meetings and followed each of participants’ introduction, subsequently other agendas were then opened for discussions and the meeting officially started. The meeting attended by the local government members and MoEWR representatives.

On-going activities:  Rehabilitation of Docole-Carfuda borehole  Water extension pipelines and construction of water points for Docole-Carfuda communities.  Construction of elevated water tank for Docole-Carfuda borehole. IMC – International Medical Corps Completed activities:  Training for WASH committees, community hygiene promoters and solid waste management volunteers Ongoing and Routine Activities  Routine hygiene promotion activities by well-trained CHPs at IDPs including Xaarxaar IDPs.  Environmental health activities in Galkacyo IDPs and Xaarxaar by dedicated WASH committees and Solid waste management volunteers

CESVI Ongoing Activities  Construction of water pans through Cash For Work for 300 Beneficiaries in Bandarseed, Qarsooni, Xerodhahley, Afgaduudle and Xaaro. Planned Activities  Construction of 2 Berkads in Qarsoni and Bandarseed communities. This activity is planned to be completed by the end of March 2021.

 Rehabilitation of 1 shallow well in Qarsoni community. This activity is planned to be completed by the end of March 2021. Mercy Corps Completed Activities  Water trucking to Deqlo and Tuloqorah villages, 16 trips per village  WASh Supply Kit distribution to Degan and Hayan IDPs, Deqlo and Tuloqorah villages  Construction of 10 Latrines in Sirmaqabe and Burbisharo IDP Camps Ongoing Activities  Routine hygiene promotion activities by CHWs at Galkayo IDPs including Alanley, Bahsan, Burbisharo and Sirmaqabe IDPs.  Hygiene promotion in Hayaan IDPs in Galkayo

Wash Gaps in the  Rural communities reported harmful effects of desert locust infestation negatively Region impacting the Safety of Water and quality in Open Berkads in Galinsoor and Saha wanaag Areas

 Many communities drilled a borehole but require complimentary support for example solar pump, water storage tank, pipeline installation and water troughs such as Dhardhaar village.  The rural communities in Galinsoor area were forced to displace by armed militias at Between and Ethiopia border areas and destroyed the berkads where these people used to collect and store the water, the displaced families are facing a critical challenge on accessing portable water for Human and Animal, in addition there is no borehole close to these families. Update on Drought  Severe water shortage reported in parts of : On 17 February, the situation in Mudug Galmudug Ministry of water reported severe water shortages in highly populated region rural villages including Dhardhar, Wargalo, Wisil, Bajela and Laasacadale. According to the Ministry, all the boreholes located in those villages have broken down while water pans dried up due to prevailing drought. People are dependent now on unsafe water which may cause diseases outbreak. The Ministry appealed for urgent rehabilitation of the boreholes to save lives.  There are heavy people movement (Pastoralists) those are moving from their original rural areas to other new areas looking for pasture, this resulted from shortage of water and dry up of grass land, these people moved to the borderline between Galmudug and Puntland, this will create clan conflict that are normally created during the people movement.  The most areas moved to South Jariban, Galmudug areas such as Xindawaco, Warmo weyn, Xajuub jaamac, Qansax dheer,Faarah Gurey, Ciirle,Qeydarre,Fardo Baqtiis, Higlaale and mont other areas, these people find

the water from Jilable Hare and Owrlaa which is 50-80KM distance from their residents,  There are Animal diseases reported from these areas which is Measles by the MoHADMA once the Mudug regional coordinator visited the obove mentioned areas. Action Points  The Partners requested from the ministry team to share information through Official emails and come up with harmonized MoU for all organizations. AOB  The partners agreed to conduct the next WASH Cluster meeting on 25 March 2021
