DISCOVER ● Creative Discovery Museum ○ Work in the Riverplay area to develop a lock system in the waterway. ○ Find the Barsamian sculpture and observe how things change as the sculpture moves. ○ Investigate the EPB display and learn how electricity gets from the powerplant to your home. ● Chattanooga Zoo ○ Pick an animal and observe its behavior for 10 minutes. Record your observations. ○ Discover four animals from different continents. What is similar or different about these animals? ● Aquarium ○ Visit and discover at least one Freshwater Conservation Project the Tennessee Aquarium is currently supporting. ○ Sturgeon are prehistoric fish. Describe how the sturgeon feels ● Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center ○ Choose one of our hiking trails to complete while on it try and find 5 signs of animal life ○ Discover some of the native animals that can be found in your own backyard as you walk through our native animal exhibit, while there read each information sign and learn 2 facts about each animal. ● Hunter Art Museum ○ The Hunter Permanent collection spans from 1735 to art made today. Can you locate the oldest artwork in the Museum collection? Where is the artwork most recently made located? How are they the same and different? ○ Take time to explore artwork located OUTSIDE of the museum! Use your body to mimic the subjects featured in the outdoor sculpture collection in front of the Hunter. ● Crabtree Farms ○ Visit Crabtree Farms anytime our gates are open (M-Sat 9-4) and take a stroll past our fields, greenhouses, barn, and high tunnels. How many plants can you identify? ● Coolidge Park ○ Ride the carousel. ● FREE ○ Ride the Electric Shuttle. ○ Walk across the Walnut Street Bridge. ○ Visit the Sculpture Fields at Montague Park. Take a picture of yourself recreating a sculpture pose. ○ As you walk along Frazier Avenue, learn a dance step. ○ Play a new game along the path in Coolidge Park.

CONNECT ● Tennessee Aquarium ○ Attend an Extraordinary Experience in both the Rivery Journey and the Ocean Journey. Through each Experience, learn the connection to our freshwater ecosystems.

● Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center ○ Spend some time traveling like our early settlers would have with a canoe float down lookout creek ○ While visiting find your favorite plant or animal on the property and journal about why you like it and how you feel being in nature. ● Chattanooga Zoo ○ Explore the zoo and find an animal that reminds you of yourself. What characteristics made you choose this animal? ○ Attend a “Keeper Chat” and ask a Zoo Keeper a question. ● Creative Discovery Museum ○ Participate in a cooking lesson and take the recipe home to recreate for your family. ○ Attend a walk-up lesson and ask the presenter about the topic the walk-up covers. Find a way to repeat this activity with family and friends at home. ● Hunter Art Museum ○ Participate in a hands on activity in one of the Art Lounges located on the 2nd floor of the Mansion and outside the contemporary galleries. ○ Choose an artwork from the museum collection online under the category “Currently On View” and then go meet the work in person during your visit! ● Crabtree Farms ○ Visit Crabtree Farms and bring your nature journal to make observations on either the plant, insect, bird, or other animals (if you don’t see our goats, feel free to ask for their location). How many organisms do you observe? What roles might they play in the farm’s ecosystem? ● FREE ○ Have your picture made with the Chattanooga Choo Choo ○ Play in the Fountains at Coolidge Park ○ Have your picture made with three different art pieces at Renaissance Park. You can even slide down the hill!

TAKE ACTION ● Creative Discovery Museum ○ Find an instrument in the Performing Arts area of the museum and investigate how that instrument is used in the music of old or in modern music. ○ Start a project in Make-It! using recycled materials. Continue your project at home using found items and recycled materials that you have in your house. ● Chattanooga Zoo ○ Research what animals are in trouble in your hometown and what you can do to help!. ○ Choose your favorite animal at the Zoo. Read the signs to determine its status in the wild. Research more about this animal at home and what you can do to help! ○ Volunteer at the Zoo! Find a staff member and ask them how you can help/volunteer at the Zoo. ● Hunter Art Museum ○ Grab a family guide in our special exhibit on the 2nd floor- try the gallery activites and discuss how you could respond to the work in the gallery after you have left the museum (ex: write a poem, make your own artwork, dance and move your body, research the artist) ○ Research and learn about local artists in Chattanooga (or your own hometown if you live somewhere different!) ● Tennessee Aquarium ○ As you stroll, hike, paddle, or climb, collect any trash you encounter and dispose of it properly. How have you just had a positive impact on our freshwater environments? ○ Participate in a watershed clean-up. Check out the annual Rescue in October. ● Crabtree Farms ○ Go on a bug hunt or bird watching expedition at the farm. Be sure to record your findings and add a few sketches of species that will stay still long enough for you to capture their image. How many species do you encounter? Why might they be important to the overall health of the farm’s ecosystem? What can you do to encourage biodiversity in your own backyard or schoolyard habitats? ● Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center ○ Ask for one of the animal keepers and have them talk to you about the Red Wolf, the 8th most endangered mammal in the US. Learn what Reflection Riding is doing to help this animal and what you can do to help as well ● FREE ○ Visit the fountain and memorial Passage next to the Market Street bridge and the Aquarium. Learn about the history of the and how the people (past and present) are represented in the sculpture. ○ Investigate how you can establish a long-term connection with the organizations listed here or others in the Chattanooga community. Volunteer with someone!
