Ocio Película "El Cantante" Espero que os guste y que pronto nos veamos en algun social ;) p.06 Música TOP Bachatas románticas JOSÉ CRESPO Editor Aunque a día de hoy, cuando hablamos de bachata la asociamos a Romeo Santos por el éxito que ha tenído en los últimos años, la realidad es que el embajador de la Bachata a nivel mundial fue Juan Luis Guerra con la canción Bachata Rosa. Está canción se daba a conocer al público un 11 de diciembre de 1990, exactamente hace 30 años, y aunque Juan Luis Guerra ya había sacado al mercado otros discos, fue gracias a esta canción que se dio a conocer a nivel internacional. Por primera vez, la bachata salía de las calles de Santo Domingo para darse a conocer a nivel mundial, convirtiéndose en el álbum más exitoso y vendido de toda su carrera. Fue tal impacto de esta canción de Juan Luis Guerra que tuvo que ampliar sus giras por Europa y Latinoamérica con todas la localidades agotadas. Incluso tuvo que hacer una versión para mercado brasileño "Romance Rosa", en un momento donde las adaptaciones no eran tan comunes en el mercado músical. El 11 de diciembre Escúchala aquí de 2019, la UNESCO declaró la Bachata como patrimonio Cultural de la humanidad. Before her hiatus, she had a string of flop movies, a single that didn’t crack the Billboard Top 10, and an American Music Award downshift from favorite pop/rock female artist in 2003 to the more niche favorite Latin artist in 2007. Oh, and her record label just dropped her. Now the 40-year-old star is calibrating a comeback that has included guest appearances on “How I Met Your Mother,” “Saturday Night Live” and reportedly an upcoming episode of “Glee,” all to support her romantic comedy “The Back-Up Plan,” opening Friday. And in the meantime, with businesses encompassing everything from music to movies to a clothing line to a Cuban restaurant, she’s the ninth-richest woman in entertainment, says Forbes magazine, which in 2007 estimated her net worth at $110 million. For more information, please contact [email protected],[email protected]. “Paradise Lost: Cuban Exile Filmmaker León Ichaso” Amy Orf Northern Michigan University AATSP 2016 Conference Abstract: In this paper I examine the trilogy of Spanish-language films directed by Cuban exile León Ichaso: El súper (1979), Azúcar amarga (1996), and Paraíso: Freedom is Murder (2009). The profound sense of loss that Ichaso must have experienced when he left Cuba at the age of fourteen comes through in his films, which portray life after the Cuban Revolution as a loss of paradise both for those who have left Cuba, as well as for those who still live on the island. LEÓN (RODRÍGUEZ) ICHASO León Ichaso was born in Havana on August 3, 1948. His father, Justo Rodríguez Santos, was a renowned poet who frequently published in the Cuban literary magazine Orígenes and a pioneering director of television and radio. Ichaso’s father often took him to the station where he saw live television shows and films being made.

Y ahí está León Ichaso, con una sonrisa de dientes blanquísimos enmarcada por una barba negra salpicada de canas. En este pequeño apartamento repleto de libros y música, en una de las áreas más exclusivas de Manhat- tan, ha vivido 33 años. Aquí escribió —alumbrándose con velas porque no tenía dinero para pagar la electricidad— el guión de El Súper, la película que le permitió dejar de hacer comerciales en 1979, dedicarse por completo al cine, y convertirse en el realizador cubano más prolífico en Hollywood. Aquí escribe todos los días en su ordenador un pequeño cuento, un segmen- to de guión cinematográfico, un pensamiento, el recuento de un sueño de la noche anterior… Los sueños tienen que ver frecuentemente con su padre, el excéntrico poeta Justo Rodríguez Santos, que murió en 1999, a los 84 años. Papidreams, escribe en el ordenador, y aparecen unos párrafos sin puntuación, oraciones apuradas escritas en spanglish, esa mezcla de espa- ñol y de inglés que tan fácil se les da a quienes, como él, nacieron en Cuba, pero se hicieron hombres y mujeres en Estados Unidos. «Son sueños bilingües», dice Ichaso a modo de explicación, y gira sobre la silla, de espaldas a la pantalla, para tratar de explicar una vez más a su padre. «Era un poeta en motocicleta», recuerda, y se echa a reír. «Un hippie. Era el cantante de salsa más popular y querido en los años 60, Los años 70 y partes de los 80, apodados para siempre por músicos y espectadores como cantantes cantantes, en otras palabras, amaban para mejor, en un momento en que Ismael Rivera, Cheo Feliciano, Santos Colón, Ismael Miranda, Rubén Blades, etc. En el momento de su muerte prematura, a la edad de 46 años, el público no podía creerlo. Cuando conocí su música, casi una década después, ni conociendo las circunstancias que la rodeaban. Un hombre que dedicó gran parte de su vida a hacer feliz a la gente murió solo y fue arrojado a un hospital de Nueva York en 1993. Ella fue la última de las traiciones que había presenciado. Los buitres, que durante décadas explotaron su voz y popularidad ya lo habían secado todo, incluso lo hicieron aparecer en un show de sillas de ruedas, su rostro paralizado, y cuando ya ni siquiera podía conseguir su voz.
