European Defence Industry Associations 2016 Catalogue Foreword European Defence Industry Associations 2016 Catalogue Foreword In the area of Market & Industry the EDA promotes the efficiency and competitiveness of the European Defence Countries: Equipment Market (EDEM), strengthening of the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB), and supports government and industrial stakeholders in adapting into the EU regulatory environment. Austria Belgium Further to the development of actions and activities to support its Member States (shareholders), EDA has taken action Bulgaria in favour of the industry. Through different workstrands, EDA has developed a set of activities and tools to support the Croatia industry by addressing either supply chain related issues or the specificities of the SMEs. Those activities aim at Cyprus facilitating the access to EU fundings, the support to Innovation, the access to the European Defence supply Chain and Czech Republic the access to business opportunities. Estonia Finland France Those activities could only be thought through and implemented without a comprehensive knowledge and Germany understanding of the Defence Supply Chain in Europe. This EDTIB is made of companies that are so numerous and Greece diverse that EDA had to rely on groupings of those companies to better understand them. The Defence Industry Hungary Associations at national and European level are a set of groupings that became one of the main interlocutors of EDA. Ireland Italy This catalogue regroups at the time of its making, the national and European Defence Industry associations and their Latvia members and is a good information tool to start exploring for new potential partnerships. The web based tool will be Lithuania available soon. Luxembourg Malta Netherlands Norway Poland Portugal Romania Slovakia Slovenia © The European Defence Agency (EDA) 2016. All rights reserved. Farnborough, July 14, 2014 ATR: 144 firm orders, new sales record for the first half of the year The aircraft manufacturer has also taken options for 112 additional aircraft At the Farnborough Airshow, the turboprop aircraft manufacturer ATR this morning announced that it has taken firm orders for 144 aircraft (119 ATR 72-600 and 25 ATR 42-600), with options for 112 additional aircraft, since the beginning of the year. This year's contracts, of which many will be revealed during the week of the show, represent a total value of over US$3.45 billion (US$6 billion including options). These sales represent 150% compared to the total sales for the year 2013. They will allow ATR to further strengthen its leading position on the market for regional aviation, and thus confirm the predominance of turboprop aircraft, and particularly those of ATR, over short distances. Sales for the first half of the year highlight the appeal of the ATR '-600's for regional companies and the leasing company community, attracted by the economic and environmental performance of the aircraft, their technical reliability and their high standard of comfort. This year, the ATR '-600's have also passed the symbolic mark of 500 firm orders since their launch at the end of 2007. ATR's backlog currently stands at 325 aircraft to be delivered in the coming years, a new record, representing a value of US$8 billion. On the back of this sales performance in the first half the year, ATR has increased its end of 2013 backlog by around 45%, seeing production ensured for almost 4 years.

The strongest party which will take its seats in the plenary chambers in Brus- sels (and, as an expensive anachronism, also in Strasbourg), albeit only for a brief period, is the Brexit Party, with 29 seats, whose programme is implicit in their name. Although EU institutions across the entire continent are challenged in terms of their public acceptance, in many countries the election has been fought with a very great deal of emotion, as if the day of reckoning is dawning, on which decisions will be All or Nothing. Some have raised concerns about the prosperous “European Project”, which they see as in dire need of rescue from malevolent sceptics. Others have painted an image of the decline of the West, which would inevitably come about if Brussels were to be allowed to continue on its present course.

  • Tonbridge Castle and Its Lords
Archaeologia Cantiana Vol. 16 1886 TONBRIDGE OASTLE AND ITS LORDS. BY J. F. WADMORE, A.R.I.B.A. ALTHOUGH we may gain much, useful information from Lambard, Hasted, Furley, and others, who have written on this subject, yet I venture to think that there are historical points and features in connection with this building, and the remarkable mound within it, which will be found fresh and interesting. I propose therefore to give an account of the mound and castle, as far as may be from pre-historic times, in connection with the Lords of the Castle and its successive owners. THE MOUND. Some years since, Dr. Fleming, who then resided at the castle, discovered on the mound a coin of Con- stantine, minted at Treves. Few will be disposed to dispute the inference, that the mound existed pre- viously to the coins resting upon it. We must not, however, hastily assume that the mound is of Roman origin, either as regards date or construction. The numerous earthworks and camps which are even now to be found scattered over the British islands are mainly of pre-historic date, although some mounds may be considered Saxon, and others Danish. Many are even now familiarly spoken of as Caesar's or Vespa- sian's camps, like those at East Hampstead (Berks), Folkestone, Amesbury, and Bensbury at Wimbledon.
