The shift in focus, from emergency response to developmental aid in protracted crisis, calls for a ‘new way of working’ which requires more innovative and sustainable means of conducting humanitarian aid. Amidst dipping funding and stretched resources in 2017, MERCY Malaysia had continued to conduct humanitarian relief in disaster and conflict affected localities such as Syria, Bangladesh, Nepal and Penang. At the same time, we continued serving communities in need such as the urban poor, refugees and displaced peoples in Malaysia, who have little access to good medical or dental services due to their social status. Our work is made possible only with public and corporate support, whose high levels of commitment, dedication, loyalty and trust remained steadfast and unchanged. Despite the changes in the humanitarian sector and increasing challenges in terms of funding, MERCY Malaysia has evolved accordingly to achieve sustainable means to continue with our work in Malaysia and around the world. This situation is not unique to MERCY Malaysia, as recognised by the United Nations and World Bank Group through the Humanitarian-Development- Peace Nexus (Triple Nexus) announced at the 2016 World Humanitarian Summit. With this, came the concept of a “new way of working”, which is believed will transcend the humanitarian- development divide. MERCY Malaysia has since adopted this ‘new way of working’, streamlining our operations and tightening our field programmes befitting the triple nexus and in accordance with the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) established by the CHS Alliance. These steps underline our commitment and accountability to our cause, assuring both funders and beneficiaries of our needs-based approach to maximize outputs and impact. Fundamentally, the Humanitarian-Development- Peace Nexus addresses the reality behind the changing landscape of humanitarian work, calling all actors – governments, organisations, corporates and individuals - to increase support for the augmentation of developmental processes in MERCY Malaysia’s strong track record protracted emergencies long after they have left the media limelight.     Macroprudential frameworks: Implementation, and relationship with other policies – Malaysia Central Bank of Malaysia Abstract Given the increasing complexity and interconnectedness of the financial system, central banks have broadened their mandates and policy toolkit to address emerging risks to financial stability. This paper describes Malaysia’s experience in establishing its macroprudential framework. It highlights the institutional and governance arrangements made to support decision-making, and policy formulation to avert or reduce risks to financial stability. It also discusses the importance of coordinating different policy tools, such as monetary, macroprudential and fiscal measures, to balance policy trade-offs. Drawing on Malaysia’s experience in implementing household- and property-related macroprudential measures, the paper argues that recalibration of existing policies hinges on the objectives and circumstances of individual jurisdictions.     Understanding monetary policy in Malaysia and Thailand: objectives, instruments and independence Robert Neil McCauley1 1. Introduction This paper sets out to update the author’s overview of monetary policy in East Asia, presented at the Reserve Bank of Australia in 2001 and subsequently issued as a SEACEN Centre Occasional Paper. At the request of the Hong Kong Institute of Monetary Research, however, this paper focuses more narrowly on monetary policy in Malaysia and Thailand. This tale of two policies features a broadly similar pursuit of price stability, in one case outside of, and in the other case within, an explicit inflation targeting framework. It features orientations to exchange rate stability: one until July 2005 explicitly bilateral and since evidently so; and the other looser and evidently effective. It features similar but not identical assignments of instruments to the achievement of these objectives. And both central banks set policy enjoying considerable behavioural independence, which might be usefully strengthened by greater legal independence. This paper’s survey of more recent events and its narrower focus allow an examination of how the two central banks have responded to the challenge of higher energy prices in 2004- 05. We find that the fiscalisation of energy costs has reduced the challenge in Malaysia, while mostly just delaying it in Thailand. Given the need in an inflation targeting framework to specify the operating definition of inflation, there was a risk in Thailand of an inappropriate response to energy prices that not only showed great volatility but also a significant trend. In the event, the inflation targeting framework in general, and its focus on a core measure of inflation in particular, have not gotten in the way of an appropriate response to this upward trend in energy prices.

Revolusi media yang sedemikian rupa telah membuka kemungkinan bagi lembaga- lembaga keagamaan untuk menjangkau pengikutnya dalam kisaran yang lebih luas. Makalah ini akan mengamati gagasan menghadapi eksklusivisme agama ini di media sosial dengan mempertimbangkan re- konseptualisasi gagasan konvensional toleransi di era media sosial. Untuk menilai argumen ini, secara hati-hati diuji tanggapan pemuda Indonesia terhadap video bermain pendek, berjudul bintang Maryam yang dapat didownload di media sosial, seperti Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, dan blog terkait lainnya. Dengan analisis semca ini, kami berpendapat bahwa toleransi dapat didefinisikan sebagai upaya budaya untuk menghadapi eksklusivisme agama. Abstract Can religious-exclusivism encounter be possible on social media? The unexpected revolution of media has opened possibility for religious institutions to reach their adherents in broader range. This paper would observe the idea Volume 10, No. 2, Desember 2016 349 Save Maryam of encountering religious-exclusivism in the social media calling for an important consideration of re-conceptualizing the conventional idea of toleration in the age of social media. To assess this argument, we carefully examine young Indonesian responses toward a short video playing, entitled Save Maryam that may be downloaded at social medias, such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and other related blogs.
