28th May, 2020 Dear Newsagent, I’m writing to let you know that from June 29, 2020 News Corp Australia (News) will transition the majority of its paid newspaper titles in regional Queensland and Northern NSW to digital-only editions. These newspapers include: ● Atherton Tablelander ● Mackay Daily Mercury ● Balonne Beacon ● The Morning Bulletin ● Bowen Independent ● News-Mail ● Burdekin Advocate ● Northern Miner ● Capricorn Coast Mirror ● Northern Rivers Echo ● Central and North Burnett Times ● Northern Star ● Central Queensland News ● Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette ● Central Telegraph ● Queensland Times ● Chinchilla News ● South Burnett Times ● Coffs Coast Advocate ● Stanthorpe Border Post ● Daily Examiner (Grafton) ● Sunshine Coast Daily ● Daily Mercury ● Tweed Daily News ● ● Dalby Herald Warwick Daily News ● Western Star ● Gatton Star ● Western Times ● Gladstone Observer ● Whitsunday Coast Guardian ● Gympie Times ● Whitsunday Times ● Fraser Coast Chronicle ● Herbert River Express ● Innisfail Advocate Plus in the Northern Territory - The Centralian Advocate and in Tasmania - Tasmanian Country. This decision follows a detailed review of our regional newspaper portfolio. This highlighted that many of our regional print mastheads were no longer viable, and the double impact of COVID-19 and the tech platforms not paying for content they use, has, unfortunately, made the print version unsustainable. We recognise the significance of this decision to your business and to the local communities that we serve. The move is expected to further strengthen the position of our printed newspaper titles listed below, which will now act as the umbrella masthead for their local communities. ● The Australian ● NT News ● The Daily Telegraph ● Townsville Bulletin ● The Advertiser (Adelaide) ● Cairns Post ● The Herald Sun ● Gold Coast Bulletin ● The Courier Mail ● Geelong Advertiser ● The Mercury (Hobart) ● The Chronicle (Toowoomba) Please don’t hesitate to contact your News Corp Australia representative or our customer service centre by phone or email should you have any concerns or need anything clarified. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of our business.
