Try and fit as many services as possible into your schedule. A brief description of each is listed below. Monday & Tuesday The Moleben to Jesus the Lover of Mankind is prayed. It includes the Supplication to the Blessed Sacrament and a homily by Father. Holy Wednesday The Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts is offered. Deacon Robert will preach. Holy Thursday The Liturgy of St. Basil with Vespers is celebrated. This day commemorates the Institution of the Eucharist. Father will preach. Good Friday The Matin Service in the morning includes the reading of the Twelve Passion Gospels. Father and the two deacons will alternate. Twelve parishioners, representing the apostles will hold candles. At night we take Vespers. Toward the conclusion there will be a solemn procession around the church with the burial Shroud of Christ. All will be invited to venerate the wounds and the all-night grave vigil will begin. (Father will give the sermon.) Holy Saturday The Liturgy of St. Basil with Vespers is celebrated. The theme is Christ’s Descent into Hades. Prior to the Gospel those at the altar change from dark to bright vestments. Deacon Bill has the homily. After sunset we celebrate the Glorious Resurrection Matins. Folks enter a darkened church, leave with candles and return finding the tomb empty and the church ablaze with light! Easter Sunday The Gospel is chanted in Slavonic, Greek/Latin and English symbolizing the mandate to the apostles to go forth and spread the Good News of the Resurrection to all nations. Father will incorporate Bishop Milan’s pastoral message. (Times for the above services are listed on the next page.)
