PUBLIC HOLIDAYS 2017 – NATIONAL SUMMARY AS AT DECEMBER 2016 This fact sheet provides information about the gazetted public holidays in each State and Territory. For further details of local public holidays, please contact the National Retail Association. 2 NORTHERN TERRITORY Public holidays in the Northern Territory are set by the Public Holidays Act (The Act). Schedule 2 of The Act specifies the days that will be observed as public holidays. Regional Show Days Show Days are appointed in districts throughout Queensland in relation to annual agricultural, horticultural or industrial shows. Show holidays are also public holidays. Not all regions have a show holiday appointed. We note that every Sunday in South Australia is nominally a public holiday and bank holiday under this Act.
