• Australian Building Codes Board – Independent Third-Party Review & Mandatory Inspections. Two discussion papers are now open for public consultation relating to a draft model process for independent third-party review and mandatory inspections. Recommendations 17 & 18 of the Building Confidence Report proposes independent third-party review for specified components of designs or certain types of buildings in every jurisdiction and that each jurisdiction has mandatory on-site inspections of building at identified notification stages. • Building Design Acceptance – A response to the Building Confidence Report Discussion Paper. A discussion paper addressing the process associated with building design documentation is out for public consultation. Recommendations 13 – 16 of the Building Confidence Report covers the process of design documentation, including the development and documentation of performance solutions and variations to the approved documentation. The recommendations seek to improve the standard and compliance of designs both as part of the building approval application process and in relation to design variations made during the construction phase and in some cases for constructed building work. • Canberra Airport – 1 George Tyson Drive – Preliminary Draft Major Development Plan – 1 George Tyson Drive. • Australian National Botanic Gardens Management Plan 2022 – 2032. A new management plan for the ANBG is currently being prepared. This plan will set the direction for the future of the Gardens and guide its management from 2022 – 2032. Comments due Wednesday 3 March 2021. • Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary Draft Strategy. The ACT Government has released the Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary Draft Strategy 2020- 2045 for community comment. • Draft Environmental Impact Statement – EIS201900029 (Blocks 27 & 2087 Jerrabomberra). The draft EIS for the Queanbeyan sewage treatment plant upgrade has been released for public comment. • Draft Variation to Territory Plan DV372 – Watson Section 76. DV372 seeks to rezone Watson Section 76 from Commercial CZ6 Leisure and Accommodation to RZ4 Medium Density Residential and Parks & Recreation PRZ1 Urban Open Space. It also intends to amend the North Watson Structure Plan and Watson Precinct Map and Code as well as introduce a Concept plan for the site. The concept plan will provide guidance for building heights, shared paths and public roads, bushfire protection areas, cultural heritage, demonstration housing and requirements for environmental assessment. • Draft Variation to Territory Plan DV378 – Bruce Section 32 Blocks 3 & 8 – Supermarket. DV378 seeks to amend the Bruce Precinct Map and Code to allow a supermarket on Bruce Section 32 Blocks 3 & 8 with a maximum size of 1,000m². Further, DV378 requires the replacement of removed Acacias (wattle) at a ratio of 2:1 with a similar species composition as existing in addition to other species favoured by Superb Parrots.
