SHANE FITZSIMMONS AFSM Commissioner By delegation from the Minister for Emergency Services [n2018-484] 608 NSW Government Gazette No 18 of 16 February 2018 Government Notices Miscellaneous Instruments AIR TRANSPORT (DEREGULATED ROUTES) ORDER 2018 I, Andrew Constance, the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, in pursuance of section 4A (1) of the Air Transport Act 1964, make the following Order. Dated, this 7th day of February 2018. THE HON ANDREW CONSTANCE MP Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Explanatory note Under section 4A (1) of the Air Transport Act 1964 (the Act), the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure may, by order published in the Gazette, declare specified routes to be deregulated routes for the purposes of the Act. Certain routes were declared to be deregulated routes by an Order made under section 4A (1) of the Act and published in the Gazette on 3 March 2017. The object of this Order is to declare a further five routes to be deregulated routes, namely the routes linking Sydney (Kingsford-Smith) Airport with Bathurst, Broken Hill, Grafton, Narrandera and Parkes. As a consequence, the declaration in the Order published in the Gazette on 22 December 2017 is repealed and re- made in this Order. 1 Name of Order This Order is the Air Transport (Deregulated Routes) Order 2018. 2Commencement This Order commences on 29 March, 2018 and continues in force until revoked. 3 Definitions In this Order: the Act means the Air Transport Act 1964. 4 Declaration of deregulated routes In pursuance of section 4A (1) of the Act, the following routes are declared to be deregulated routes for the purposes of the Act: (a) the routes between Sydney (Kingsford-Smith) Airport and each of the following localities, namely, Albury, Armidale, Ballina, Bathurst, Broken Hill, Cobar, Coffs Harbour, Cooma, Dubbo, Grafton, Griffith, Lismore, Merimbula, Moruya, Mudgee, Narrabri, Narrandera, Orange, Parkes, Port Macquarie, Tamworth, Taree, Wagga Wagga and Williamtown, and (b) any routes that do not begin or end at, or pass through, Sydney (Kingsford-Smith) Airport. 5 Repeal The Order made in pursuance of section 4A (1) of the Act and published in the Gazette on 22 December 2017 is repealed.     Migration as an opportunity for reinvention: Alfred and Margaret Rich of Gundaroo JAMES MCDONALD Along with their neighbours in the fledgling Taralga, Gundaroo and Gungahlin communities in the years 1857 to 1893, Alfred Mainwaring Rich and Margaret Phillips made valuable contributions to local life.1 For many years, they ran private schools and, thereby, held a key role in these communities, being responsible for the development of their children. To all who knew this couple in their adopted country, they appeared to be quintessentially English in character and heritage. When Alfred died in 1893, he was honoured with an obituary, which specifically noted his connections to the English landed gentry: News has been received of the death of Mr. Alfred Mainwaring Rich, who died at the residence of his son at Gunning. The above-named gentleman who was highly connected—being the brother of the late Major General Rich—was formerly a resident here for many years and was well known both here and at Gundaroo.2 But all was not what it seemed. Alfred Rich had used his migration as an opportunity to omit certain elements from his past and to reinvent himself. Australia offered free settlers the chance to build new lives. Some took it further and built new identities. This is certainly what Alfred did, but, as this paper suggests, he may have paid a price for self-deception. 1 According to Parish records, Alfred Rich was baptised 3 March 1823 at Shinfield, Berkshire. Margaret Phillips was born in 1840 at Leeds (see her enumeration in the 1841 and 1851 England censuses).

    Descendants of James Booth by Monica Jones and Rhonda Brownlow [email protected] Generation No. 1 JAMES 1 BOOTH was born 1797 in Dublin Ireland, and died 05 Dec 1855 in Gundaroo NSW. He married MARGARET ROBINSON 26 Dec 1832 in St. Peter's Church of England, Campbelltown, NSW. She was born 1808 in Paisley Renfrewshire, Scotland, and died 12 Jul 1884 in Gundaroo NSW. James BOOTH, b 1797 Dublin, Ireland and Margaret ROBINSON, b 1808 Scotland married in Campbelltown in 1832, he had applied for permission to marry, at that time he was free, but Margaret was still on a bond, they proceeded to have a large family of 10 children. The family was to reside at ‘Willowgrove Estate’ Gundaroo, where he had made an initial purchase in 1837 of 150 acres from Archibald MacLeod, this was to become the Willowgrove Estate a squattage of some 1000 acres. James Booth was transported in 1822 (age 25) on the Countess of Harcourt , while a Margaret ROBINSON was transported in 1827 on the Princess Charlotte. The ages given for both would have been correct. Additionally, this James Booth was transported from Wicklow in Ireland, having received 7 year sentence, while Charlotte was transported from Glasgow in Scotland after being tried 1826 Assizes, sentence 7 years she was sent straight to the Female Factory at Parramatta in1828. He was assigned to Dr. Douglas at Gerringong on the 1828 Census; he received his ticket of leave 1828/477. Countess of Harcourt 1822 The Countess of Harcourt was built in India in 1811.
