Spending the night in a hotel on his way home to stake his claim, a careless display of his new-found wealth attracts the attention of two bandits who knock him out and rob him - unwittingly taking the map to his mine with them as well! Pursuing the scoundrel after an epic bar fight, Luke finds out he's a member of the gang, and will have to arrest him and the others before riding on to new adventures on the other side of the Rio Grande. Having accepted the Lucky Luke: Stagecoach v. 25 job in Red City, Lucky Luke arrives to find a town entirely under the control of Pat Poker, a ruthless gambler, cheat and saloon owner, and his henchmen. His horse, clothes and revolver stolen, Luke decides to pass himself off as a harmless, bumbling tenderfoot, all the better to study his opponents and catch them unaware. When a second saloon opens, our crook isn't happy that someone's selling proper whisky cheaper than his own rotgut. But the killer runs afoul of Lucky Luke, who decides to take his place in order to clean up the town-only, not the way his employer expected! Passing through the quiet little town of Rattlesnake, Luke exposes a Mexican gambler as a cheat and runs him out of town. Unfortunately, the hustler ends up in the hands of the Bluefeet Indians and manages to Lucky Luke: Stagecoach v. 25 them to attack Rattlesnake. A siege begins, during which Luke will have to use all his guile and courage to keep the Bluefeet at bay until the cavalry arrives. At the end of the Civil War, many former soldiers turn to a life of crime to survive. Joss Jamon and his gang are among the worst of such men. After sacking the town of Los Palitos, they arrange for Lucky Luke to be arrested for their crimes. The lonesome cowboy, a rope already around his neck, is forced to make a deal with the angry citizens: Bring the Lucky Luke: Stagecoach v. 25 bandits Lucky Luke: Stagecoach v. 25 within six months or hang. Until Lucky Luke put a final end to their reign of evil. Joe, Jack, William and Averell Dalton, on the other hand, aren't even footnotes in the back pages of newspapers. Bumbling, blundering and hapless, they nonetheless vow to emulate-and avenge-their prestigious relatives. But if their cousins couldn't best the Lonesome Cowboy, do they really stand a chance? Lucky Luke refuses to get involved, but when he witnesses the prison guards' incompetence and Rin Tan Can's remarkable lack of brains, he has no choice but to set out on the Daltons' trail of holdups and burglaries. Jusqu'à la parution en décembre dernier de L'Art de Morris (1) , il n'y avait pas d'ouvrage de référence. "En préparant ce livre, nous avons été frappés par l'absence de documentation, quand, dans le même temps, on pourrait remplir une bibliothèque avec tout ce qui a été écrit sur Hergé, souligne Jean-Pierre Mercier, conseiller scientifique au musée de la BD d'Angoulême et commissaire de l'exposition qui lui est consacrée. Pour un auteur de cette importance, c'est incompréhensible, il y a un mystère Morris. "Certes, le dessinateur belge n'était pas un client facile. Comme souvent chez ceux de sa génération, les épanchements n'étaient pas son fort, mais, même pour ses pairs, il faisait figure de Martien. "Pour vivre heureux, vivons caché." Il avait fait sienne cette devise, fuyait les mondanités et n'aimait guère les médias. Disparu en 2001, à l'âge de 78 ans, l'homme donnait des interviews au compte-gouttes et préférait rester devant sa télé à dessiner des caricatures plutôt que d'y montrer sa bobine. Idem pour les rares expositions dont il a fait l'objet, car il répugnait autant à prêter ses planches et ses dessins originaux qu'à les voir accrochés aux murs. Curieusement, cet homme qui, dans les années 1960, plaidait pour la reconnaissance de la bande dessinée et fut l'un des premiers à parler de "neuvième art", s'agaçait de ce qu'elle était devenue la décennie suivante.
