The power of football!

Nelson Bays Football and are proud to announce a partnership that could change the whole football environment in the Top of the South Island.

NBF has been approved as a community partner and benefactor of NextGen Energy, a new and unique Electricity supply company who are operating on a “not for profit” basis in our region. Check them out at http://nextgen.energy

What do you have to do? - It’s simple… just sign up as a NextGen customer and enjoy lower power costs for your household or business (with no price increases guaranteed for 3 years).

What does Football get? - NextGen will establish a fund from profits which will benefit charitable and not for profit organisations, and NBF will be able to apply for a grant from them to subsidise costs of football in the region. - A royalty in relation to every single account will be paid to NBF.

Having worked with the company already, we know it saves you money! And we encourage all those who want the sport to grow and provide further opportunities for our younger players to sign across their electricity supply to NextGen. Either switch online at the NextGen website, or contact Clive Beaumont at Nelson Bays Football on 03 547 5600 for more information.

General Manager’s Report… Nelson Pine LVL Tasman United would like to

I was enjoying a well-earned beer last week in the Sprig and Fern Milton thank the following funders… Street, after the game and chatting with a new Tasman United Fan who had come up from Christchurch to watch the week-end games. After debating whether we should have won (I think we all believe that to be the case) we reflected on where we were at, and one of the group in his inimitable fashion, commented that it was staggering that we were already talking with disappointment in our voices about having earned only a point against a team who were 5 times champions of and had played in the World Club Championship. A year ago we were crying in our beer and praying for a point against anyone!

I think it’s important to just recall that this Franchise is only entering its 24th game today and we have come a long way and what we now have is real belief in the team.

It is important also today to secure a win and get the Tasman Bandwagon rolling again after a couple of unfortunate games where points have been dropped. Please ensure we raise the roof from the stands with noise as it lifts the team knowing they have such fervent support.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank all those behind the scenes that make these home games so special, and the work undertaken by the TASMAN United committee to ensure the viability and sustainability of the Club cannot be underestimated.

I acknowledge our sponsors too, without their support we cannot do what we are doing and the goodwill extended by our major sponsors, I hope, is appreciated across the region. Our Major sponsors Nelson Pine LVL, Sprig and Fern and Bayleys, deserve the full support of this community in their business endeavours as they show such support to community teams, like Tasman United. And that is not to forget all the other sponsors who are deserving of mention like Football Unlimited, Plus4 Insurance; Absolute Energy, NZME, NextGen Energy and Bowater Honda; who all contribute to the cause wholeheartedly and considerably.

A warm welcome is extended to our visitors from Eastern Suburbs today and I know they will appreciate the facilities and home team hospitality either side of the game.

Go Tasman!!

Nelson Pine LVL Tasman United would like to thank our sponsors…

team playing attractive football, and have quality footballers in every Coach’s comments…

Welcome today to Eastern Suburbs, Danny and Chris. They have their team playing attractive football, and have quality footballers in every position.

I believe they are an in-form team, regardless of their last two results and we will have to match their intensity for the full 90 minutes, if we are to get something out of this game.

I have no doubt we have the players to do that, and very much look forward to the match ups across the pitch.

We are very eager to improve on our last performance and entertain our great supporters, and hopefully we are a bit more clinical in the attacking third and get some rewards for all the hard work off the ball. So far the players have shown great character, and I believe this is the perfect game to showcase the individual qualities that our players undoubtedly possess.

All the best to both teams today.

Regards, Davor Tavich (Senior Head Coach)
