Nelson Bays Football and Tasman United are proud to announce a partnership that could change the whole football environment in the Top of the South Island. NBF has been approved as a community partner and benefactor of NextGen Energy, a new and unique Electricity supply company who are operating on a “not for profit” basis in our region. Check them out at http://nextgen.energy What do you have to do? - It’s simple… just sign up as a NextGen customer and enjoy lower power costs for your household or business (with no price increases guaranteed for 3 years). What does Football get? - NextGen will establish a fund from profits which will benefit charitable and not for profit organisations, and NBF will be able to apply for a grant from them to subsidise costs of football in the region. - A royalty in relation to every single account will be paid to NBF. Having worked with the company already, we know it saves you money! And we encourage all those who want the sport to grow and provide further opportunities for our younger players to sign across their electricity supply to NextGen. Either switch online at the NextGen website, or contact Clive Beaumont at Nelson Bays Football on 03 547 5600 for more information. It should be a great game with both teams still having plenty to play for. The tightness of the league is incredible this season, are we are still only 3 points off a play-off spot, and Hawke’s Bay are just behind us. When we last played each other the result was a 1 – 1 draw in a tight battle. Tasman were beaten last week by a strong and well organised Team Wellington. However anyone at the game would have noticed there was not much separating the sides at all and one thing that has was noticed by our supporters is that the boys never gave up. That attitude will win more games in the long run than anything else. Once again this year I have been impressed with the quality and technical ability in the Premier League. The players are training up to four times a week, a tremendous sacrifice, and the games have been entertaining as a result. Within Hawke’s Bay squad a player to watch is experienced centre back Bill Robertson, a Hawke’s Bay institution and former Team Wellington captain. He is a rock of a player that Tasman will need to get around today. Thanks again to our wonderful volunteers, including Sam, Janie and Jade from the Bug Backpackers who are helping the guest club Tahuna FC to set up the ground and run the food. Tahuna FC are a great local club so please check out their Face Book page for their latest news and information. This game is brought to you by local business Burger Culture, the wildly successful burger joint at the top of Trafalgar Street. With great burgers named after famous singers or songs, such as the Snoop Hogg and Blue Tang Clan. And I recommend the Hen Stefani Chicken burger! The proprietors are the Williams family who are great football fans and supporters in the region as well.. Also thanks to our major sponsors Nelson Pine LVL, Sprig and Fern Brewery, and Bayleys, as well as NextGen Energy who are the cheapest power providers in Nelson, Plus 4 for your insurance, Absolute Energy for insulation, NZME, and Bowater Honda for all your vehicle needs. And not to mention all our other fantastic sponsors you will see in the programme and on billboards around the ground. Enjoy the game today and may the best team win – cheers, Mark Sheehan Nelson Pine LVL Tasman United would like to thank our sponsors… Coach’s comments… I’d like to give Hawke’s Bay United a really big welcome to Saxton Field today, as this Is possibly the biggest game of the season for both teams. We both really need 3 points to have any chance of competing for the 4th place play-off spot in the coming weeks. Hawke’s Bay are coming off a great win last weekend and will be full of confidence, and they will be a very tough opponent to play against. Regarding our own game last weekend against Team Wellington, we let it get away from us at the end of the first half, and the priority for this week will be to minimise the number of mistakes and be more aware off the ball. We know we have the quality and confidence to bounce back from that loss, and if there is a game to show it, it is definitely this one. I hope our great supporters enjoy it and we give them something to be happy with. All the best to both teams today. Regards, Davor Tavich (Head Coach) About our visitors… Hawke’s Bay United was founded in 2005 under the name of Napier City Soccer, as the summer entity of Central League club Napier City Rovers. In the 2004-05 season they finished 5th out of 8. The following season Napier City Soccer was renamed Hawke’s Bay United and changed their kit colour to the Hawke’s Bay provincial sporting colours of black and white, as part of an effort to greater represent the greater East Coast instead of just the city of Napier.
