The power of football!

Nelson Bays Football and are proud to announce a partnership that could change the whole football environment in the Top of the South Island.

NBF has been approved as a community partner and benefactor of NextGen Energy, a new and unique Electricity supply company who are operating on a “not for profit” basis in our region. Check them out at http://nextgen.energy

What do you have to do? - It’s simple… just sign up as a NextGen customer and enjoy lower power costs for your household or business (with no price increases guaranteed for 3 years).

What does Football get? - NextGen will establish a fund from profits which will benefit charitable and not for profit organisations, and NBF will be able to apply for a grant from them to subsidise costs of football in the region. - A royalty in relation to every single account will be paid to NBF.

Having worked with the company already, we know it saves you money! And we encourage all those who want the sport to grow and provide further opportunities for our younger players to sign across their electricity supply to NextGen. Either switch online at the NextGen website, or contact Clive Beaumont at Nelson Bays Football on 03 547 5600 for more information.

General Manager’s Report… Nelson Pine LVL Tasman United would like to

It’s match day at Trafalgar Park and I warmly welcome you on behalf of thank the following funders… the players and committee of Tasman United.

With Auckland’s administrative error giving Tasman an early Christmas present, let’s hope the boys can advantage of that in the second half of the season. If our boys can just get a little more ruthless in front of goal then the draws will become victories and the points will be secured. The league is looking to be a tight affair with any 4 of 8 teams I think in contention for play-off berths in a couple of months’ time, so let’s get behind the boys today and hopefully secure 3 points towards that play-off position.

I’d also like to once again take this opportunity to thank all those behind the scenes that make these home games so special and the work undertaken by the TASMAN United committee to ensure the viability and sustainability of the club cannot be underestimated.

I acknowledge our sponsors also, for without their support we cannot do what we are doing and the goodwill extended by our major sponsors, I hope, is appreciated across the region. Our major sponsors Nelson Pine LVL, Sprig and Fern Brewery and Bayleys, deserve the full support of this community in their business endeavours as they show such support to community teams like Tasman United. That is not to forget our other sponsors who are also deserving of mention; Football Unlimited, Plus4 Insurance, Absolute Energy, NZME, NextGen Energy, Bowater Honda, BMG, BCM, The Sign Shop, Kahurangi Estate, Nelson Golf Club, Hamish Fletcher Lawyers, Nelson Weekly, Nelson College, Scott Construction and Waimea Print Express, who all contribute to the cause wholeheartedly and considerably.

A warm welcome is extended to our visitors from Canterbury, and I know they will appreciate the facilities and home team hospitality either side of the game.

And we also go live to the nation on SKY TV this afternoon at Trafalgar Park, so let’s make some real noise and show the rest of the best way to support a team.

Go Tasman!!

Coach’s comments… Match Day Sponsor…

Firstly I want to wish everybody a very happy new year. It has been a nice break but I must say, and I’m sure the players feel the same, that I couldn’t wait to get back into it. And there’s no better way than to start the year with the game against Canterbury.

A big welcome to Willy , his staff, and his squad. It’s a massive game for both teams and we are very keen to put on a good performance for our last game of the season at Trafalgar

Park.

The players and I are well aware that we will have to be at our very best to get a positive result today and l have no doubt that everybody will do everything they can to achieve our objective.

Again, I wish everybody all the best and hopefully we can contribute to the great start of your new year.

Regards, Davor Tavich (Head Coach)

About our visitors…

Canterbury United was formed in 2002 as a conglomerate of various Christchurch area clubs, in order to form a strong team to take part in the 2002 NZ National Soccer League. In 2004, the league was replaced by the NZ Football Championship, run on a regional franchise basis, and Canterbury United became one of eight competing teams.

In their first season of the NZ Football Championship, they missed out on the playoffs by four competition points, ultimately finishing fourth. In 2007, the club rebranded themselves as the Canterbury United Dragons with a new logo and mascot.

The highest position they have finished in the competition so far was 2nd place in the 2011/12 season.
