Of course, the names of those being prayed for are not shared, it is between the person praying and God.

In Benalla we also used the opportunity of Thy Kingdom Come to hold extra and different services or activities that normally make up the daily and weekly life of the parish. Things such as coming together to pray before the sacrament, Taizé evening prayer, soup and sharing about ones favourite Psalm, or hymn or special prayer. It has been a great reminder to us that we are part of a much wider church and that we are joining in with tens of thousands of people throughout the world.

Thy Kingdom Come is no longer just for Anglicans, there are resources available for people from a range of Christian traditions, including Roman Catholic and Methodist. This means that there are resources available for any type of parish or congregation.

The best place to start if you are interested in participating in Thy Kingdom Come, is to head to the Thy Kingdom Come website, where all of the resources, ideas for special services and materials that can be used within a parish are to be found.

www.thykingdomcome.global

You will find on the website promotional videos, liturgies, ideas and artwork to help promote Thy Kingdom Come in your parish. In Benalla Thy Kingdom Come has been as much a Lay led event as well as led by clergy. It is something that is open to all to participate in and share around a parish or congregation.

from the Bishop

Dear friends

Christ is Risen Alleluia! Alleluia!

He is Risen Indeed Alleluia! Alleluia!

Black Friday marked the beginning of my journey with you as your Bishop. This was for us a Good Friday time – a time of pain, of grief, of loss. This year marks the tenth anniversary of those dreadful events – and we are in the time of resurrection. Marysville is rebuilt. The Bush has regenerated. New life abounds. Resurrection does not annul the pain of Good Friday. The fingerprints of death and destruction are still evident if one looks for them. The risen Christ Special service held for the still bears the wounds of his crucifixion. But destruction has been transformed. Resurrection makes the future an open horizon of possibility. Life is proved to be stronger than death, truth stronger than lies. I don’t want to be too glib here. Pain and loss are real – in Melanesian Brothers our personal lives and beyond. Easteraround Festivitiesour Diocese Palm Sunday in the Parish of Kilmore BY CAROLINE BURGE

The services held this year in the Parish Kilmore, Broadford, Pyalong and Tallarook, were a combination of celebrating Palm Sunday as well as giving thanks for the harvest. Lent has been a time of growth, and so our ‘harvest’ is a time of reaping that growth as we enter into Holy Week culminating with the great festival of Easter.

Palm branches adorned Christ Church, and the parish made palm crosses, blessed and given out at the start of the procession into the church.

As well as the palms, the church was also decorated for the harvest festival. Locally produced fruit and vegetables were donated and at a parish lunch at Gavan Hall following the services in the parish, all food was auctioned off, with proceeds being donated to the Broadford “Love in Action” group who provide help and assistance to those in need in the community.
