Niemi Greetings VFW Auxiliary Members Greetings Auxiliary Members! We are now back to our normal in-person meetings at the post. It is so wonderful to see members again! As usual, our amazing auxiliary has been working hard over the last few months so here is a quick update: Although we did not have a qualifying Voice of Democracy entry, we did have many entries for the Patriot’s Pen essay contest. I am so happy to announce that our Aiden Cain took first place at the District level and Anthony Olsen came in second. Aiden went on to compete at the State level. Unfortunately, he did not win at State, but we are hoping he will compete again next year. There have been a couple of Blood Drives and more Quilts of Valor presented. We are not doing funeral luncheons, currently, due to the multiple (and sometimes confusing) regulations in effect right now. We are hoping the restrictions open soon so we can resume our service to our community. Our members have been very busy making quilts, blankets, wheelchair bags, masks, and so many other items. They have been donated to various hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. Thank you to our amazing sewing crew and their generosity. Between the Auxiliary and the MOCA, 300 Valentine cards were delivered to the Minneapolis Veterans Home. Our year-end reports are due in March already and we have elections and installation of post and auxiliary officers coming up in April and May. I know many of us have lost loved ones or have family members that are ill. You have our deepest sympathy and our prayers.
