Invocation, Confession, and Absolution

Cry Out To Jesus To everyone who's lost someone they love Long before it was their time You feel like the days you had were not enough When you said goodbye And to all of the people with burdens and pains Keeping you back from your life You believe that there's nothing And there is no one who can make it right

There is hope for the helpless Rest for the weary And love for the broken heart And there is grace and forgiveness Mercy and healing He'll meet you wherever you are

For the marriage that's struggling just to hang on They've lost all of their faith in love And they've done all they can to make it right again Still it's not enough For the ones who can't break The addictions and chains You try to give up but you come back again Just remember that you're not alone in your shame And your suffering

Old Testament Reading Exodus 3:1-12 1 N ow Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to 2 Horeb, the mountain of God. A nd the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was 3 burning, yet it was not consumed. A nd Moses said, “I will turn aside to see this 4 great sight, why the bush is not burned.” W hen the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, 5 “Here I am.” T hen he said, “Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, 6 for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” A nd he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. 7 T hen the Lord said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their 8 sufferings, a nd I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the 9 Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. A nd now, behold, the cry of the people of Israel has come to me, and I have also seen the oppression 10 with which the Egyptians oppress them. C ome, I will send you to Pharaoh that

11 you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” B ut Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel 12 out of Egypt?” H e said, “But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”

Epistle Philippians 2:1-4, 14-18 1 I f there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any 2 participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, c omplete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one 3 mind. T he baptism of John, from where did it come? From heaven or from man?” And they discussed it among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say to us, ‘Why then did you not believe 26 him?’ B ut if we say, ‘From man,’ we are afraid of the crowd, for they all hold 27 that John was a prophet.” S o they answered Jesus, “We do not know.” And he said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”

Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,

And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From thence he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
